Anyone leaving a negative review doesn't seem to understand the point of this extension or how it works ignore them it does exactly what it says.
I liked this extension, but my big annoyance is that it restarts videos that I've already watched (when I return to that page, like after reading comments). If it could tell that I've already watched it and not start it, then I would love that it starts the unwatched (or partially watched) videos. Switching to the "other" extension.
"Automatically start the video when switching to the tab: [Yes/No] To keep the extension fast, there is no way to change this behaviour through options." So, an extension called "stop autoplay for youtube" explicitly says that it has no way to stop autoplay for youtube. So, what's the point of it really?

Does not work. Google "nextvid stopper for youtube", that one works for playlists/liked videos.

The description is confusing. Apparently the "Extended" version is actually "Limited". It doesn't "Start the video when you focus the tab", that's Chrome's work, it just doesn't stop Chrome from doing that. Apparently it stops autoplay in some limited fashion, some other way at some other time. If you don't want Chrome to automatically start videos when you refocus a tab, use the non-"Extended" version.

Seems to stop the playing of tabs that are not the focus. When I start Chrome with many tabs open, they don't all start to play. Sometimes, one or two will seem to start, make a sound, then stop. When I switch to a tab with a video, it starts to play right away.

Auto starting the video when we come back to the tab turned out to be more annoying the initial issue. Had to uninstall it.

it DOES work. everyone saying it doesn't work probably hasn't installed adblock as per the description. One thing that would make the extension better though would be the ability to set it (or by default) so that it doesn't play when you click the tab, but rather when you click play on that tab. Any chance? Also, the video plays again if i vist the tab aftrer the video has been completed. This is annoying if I want to go back o view comments half way down the page. thanks EDIT: so I've decide to give this a miss now as I just have the problem of the video playing whenever I click the tab which is different but just as annoying.

It works aside from the fact that the video starts playing as soon as you click on the tab, everytime you click on the tab, this basically creates the extreme reverse of the same problem

This extension only works when i open a new video in another tab but without actually going to that tab(ctrl + click or right click + "open in a new tab") When i go to the tab, the video starts playing. This works for me. It's what i was looking.

This worked when first loaded, after logging back into Youtube, autoplay started, I checked the extensions was enabled ten set the autoswitch off manually, it did thens stay off but the same happened again. It also automatically restarts you video when you go back to your tab, very obnoxious because I dont want to watch it again, there supposed to be a version without that but I dont see it, Im going with another extension.

Not sure how so many people are having positive experiences with this add on. I've disabled and re-enabled it, logged out of YouTube and back in and it still will not stop videos from autoplaying.
Been looking for something that stops my YouTube videos, opened in multiple tabs, from all loading when I start Chrome. I found this and it works like a charm :)

Doesn't work, videos still play, plus if you pause videos manually then switch back to that tab they play again. Actually makes the situation worse.
It seems to work okay if I'm on YouTube, and I right-click to open a video in a new tab. The video doesn't start playing until I go to that tab. However, if I have a YouTube tab open, and close Chrome, then the YouTube video will start playing when I reopen Chrome.

Actually MAKES paused YouTube videos START playing when you click on their window or tab. More annoying than the native behavior which at least honors the pause button.
It helps a little but the autoplay when switching to the tab is slightly more annoying that the autoplay that this addon is designed to defeat. Please add an option to disable autoplay when switching to the youtube tab.

This is great. I don't understand why people don't like it... It does what the description says! I love that it starts when I select the appropriate tab. I'm all about saving those clicks. The auto buffering is great for me, but Youtube reloads it after I start playing anyway, so I guess I have to load it twice.

I prefer to MANUALLY start and pause my videos. WHERE IS THAT OPTION!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! This plugin is RUBBISH! At least give us some settings/options to tweak it!

Didn't work for me. Tried both HTML5 and Shockwave. The only thing working for me is Magic Actions for Youtube with HTML5. Nothing else works anymore to stop auto play.. if I find something I'll report back.

Ver nice Eccxtension. One thing I'd like to see is an option to stop the video from auto buffering, until the tab is active. (Or until I click play) Right now I open many videos at a time and add them to my Chromecast playlist. If they don't buffer when they are opened in new tabs, they won't tank my PC so hard.

It works as it says it should. However I am always accidentally switching to a tab that I don't really want to play. I am going to look for an extension that only plays when I actually click the play button.

I liked it but I really dont like the fact that the videos will auto play when I switch to their tab. I have lots of tabs open at once so I switch between them alot, auto playing LOTS of videos at once. Its just too much trouble, which is unfortunate as this is the only "Stop Auto play" add on I've found that works consistently.
