You can't tell it where to download a file. Normal downloads you can right click and save anywhere, this extension always puts it in the "normal" download folder, which is a pain because that's my OS folder. Sigh, extension is a good idea but kind of useless for me.
Dangerous - crippled Chrome even after Force Kill & Reboot. I asked it to download a list of images and it kept saving .html files instead (appearently it cant deal with redirect pages). This caused an infinite series of Save As popups. After holding ESC for 10 minutes watching thousands of popups close, even Force Kill didn't help, since the infinite popups returned after restart. I couldn't access settings anymore. I had to do a full uninstall of Chrome to get this extension removed. BE CAREFUL.
Awesome...
Fast & reliable.
A very useful plugin. But in some cases it downloads the same files again. I wish there was a "skip" option instead.
STUNNING!! I had a page with 52 lines to PDFs on it, installed this, clicked 'downloadthemall', picked 'pdf...' and 'download'... I've been writing software for a living since 1989 and I'll probably do it til I die and I'm in awe of this :) THANKS FROM NZ!!
This is the best downloader ever have...Recomment
What a little gem once you know how to configure it! Thank you!
I just discovered the Chrome version and am very happy. I used this a lot in the past and missed it after I switched to Chrome years ago. There are a few features that others have mentioned that I hope to see (e.g., file size filter, preserving original date of last modification), and I wish I could stop Adobe Acrobat from automatically opening every .pdf I download (which is mostly what I use this for), but it's already worth 5 stars.
The "export" function isn't working, and neither is setting rules for download limitations based on server names. Using with the latest version of Brave Browser, so maybe that's the problem.
to download mp3 files in one click . Most needed extension in chrome
Thank you so much for making this excellent extension!
Complete waste of time, the most horible UI design, trying for almost an hour to download every .jp2 images from some directories, as they are, could not figure it out. MAKE IT SIMPLE. INTUITIVE! The only thing that was downloaded were pages. Tried every possible setting from the manager.
I tried one download from archive.org and it worked right up until the end. The download just wouldn't complete. Ended up with an "Unconfirmed ######.crdownload" that never finalized. This extension used to be sooooo good.
Only downloads thumbnails in galleries, not the full size image
very helpful
This Addon used to be REALLY Good! Until one day, I tried to download something and It Didn't even work, even when I tried so many times to get this Stupid thing to work. I right-clicked the file I wanted, and then nothing shows up. seriously, Screw this Thing.
Is this a download manager. I wanted to download a youtube video but under the video page it shows no option to download it..
Thanks for making this wonderful extension. <3
good
The most reliable and user-friendly image downloader. It knows how to download even with one click! Works both with one page and with all open tabs. Works well with Image Max URL - for downloading full-size images from one page. The only thing that is missing is the image size filter.
The chrome version seems to lack the ability to do SHA checksums on downloads. Is it planned to include this at some stage? This is a key feature for me, so I guess I'll keep using the waterfox addon.
Worked flawlessly
Totally useless.
I think I used this exact same extension (or program?) back on... Windows 95??! Still works, perfectly!
classic!
The best app for downloading images from webpages! Loved it.
Saves PDFs as WEBP files. Useless for what I intent on using it for.
Did exactly what I needed with almost no configuration required. Saved me hours of manually clicking download links.
DownThemAll was one of the extensions I couldn't go without and thus is one of the reasons why I never moved on from Firefox v24 to a more modern version of Firefox or Chrome. So like many of you still clinging to your old reliable and familiar Windows 7, I was clinging to a really old version of Firefox that's nearing a decade old but now that DTA is back, I am finally ready to migrate to a modern browser. I have been using DTA daily since it launched way back in 2004 and it is the only browser based download manager I trust. I just hope the developers don't ever do anything to F that up.
I hope it will get updated regularly.
So glad DTA is back. Looking forward to it regaining all the former features over time. Keep up the good work!!
Downloading 500+ files... and I have to choose a location for EACH single download???
I was delighted when this returned to Forefox. I am today equally delighted that I have found it is in Chrome. It just works. Quickly, no fuss, no adverts. It lets me select what to download in different ways, so I get only the things i want. Donated Euro10. Thank you Nils.
Works really well & downloads in the background without affecting other browsing. A++
Used both on Firefux & Google WONDERFUL.
I can't imagine how much work it is to create such an extension for different browser. That being said the download speed is NOT increased at all as it doesn't seem to download in segments like the old versions did. So as it stands I might as well just download files normally as this extension has been handicapped severely.
Completely useless, no segmented downloads anymore
Huge step backwards from former functionality. Will not save any images, only the page the image is on as an .html file. Allowing access to file URLs did not work, and has nowhere near the options it used to in the Settings menu. This used to be my favorite extension; now it doesn't even work no matter what I try, and the website FAQ/Help pages are useless. RIP to a once terrific extension.
It's a little clumsy in terms of how it's integrated and the click through process to add new links to que. But it does work.
great tool
Just downloaded what could have been me right clicking and then clicking save as 489 times worth of work with only five or so clicks. Yeah, 489 files. PDF files to be exact. All I needed to do was just clicking the extension on the webpage with the direct download links, choose or filter which to download (the gui is nice and clear), and then download. Thank you.
Great Product.
Loved it. But how come files randomly re-downloads stuff I previously downloaded. Earlier today, I used the DownThemAll to download a huge batch of photos. Now randomly I come back to use it again, and all my previously downloaded photos are re-downloading the entire things again, and I don't know how to stop it from downloading. Because the manage tab has loading and I can't view it. I had to disable the add on to just stop it randomly re-downloading all the photos again.
So glad DTA is back! It may not have all the features as back in the day on FF, but it's implementation of batch downloads and ability to find media is! Super easy and reliable download manager!
Works great.
Needed to DL 200+ image files, worked like a charm
Useless, convoluted and confusing for Video Downloads. #1, it doesn't work on youtube videos. It just downloads an html file. #2 it brings up a link to absolutely every media type on the website; jpegs, gifs, zips, etc. etc. so you're presented with this giant list of garbage (including suggested videos in the side bar) that you have to filter through to figure out what it is you want it to download. Eventually I noticed that the current YT video was labelled as Featured (but it's really small which is why I missed it at first) but that also just downloaded an html file. I even tried clear cutting by checking off every suggestion that it had for me (33 items in the list) and I just ended up with 33 html files in my downloads folder. If you're trying to find a batch downloader for everything displayed on a website, I suppose this might be good if it worked and if they had a select all files option which they don't. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.
Short review (2 words): F*** yeah! Longer review: When dTA was available for Firefox, it was one of *the* first extensions I downloaded. But when Mozilla in their "infinite wisdom" decided to go Quantum, they broke it. (I read the Mozilla Bugzilla and their circular reasoning why... excuse me, Mozilla, you ain't God. You even had something nearly biblical in one of your "about:mozilla" verses regarding a parallel of Matthew 6:24!) I was hoping for forever and a day for dTA to be brought to Chrome! And now it has! Since Nils has blessed us Chrome/Chromium users (I even use it on my Raspberry Pi!) with dTA, I'll bless him with a PayPal donation next month. I used it since I learned about it... now I guess it's time to show my appreciation for his hard work.
Slower than regular Chrome downloads. Chrome downloaded a file at 3 MB/s, DownThemAll ranged from 300 KB/s to 1 MB/s
I loved this when I used FF. Now I use chrome. So I am glad to see this extension for chrome. I can now use the same downloader on windows, chromebook and linux. Thanks. I gave three stars because I can't add chunks to the downloads as before. And the image of a pixelated orange what ever you wanna call it, is not my forte. If that section of the bar would be solid light or dark, it would look a lot better. Or allow us to add our own image to that bar as well as the buttons. Either way get rid of the orange pixels.
Very nice work, thank you.
The defining reason why I've used DtA for .. friggin' eons it feels like now, was that Mutlipart Download accelerator. But i'm not recently learning that the browser extension permissions have been clamped down across the board for all browsers which has effectively forced this functionality out. Now it's just a nice manager that can crawl a page for downloadable items, which is still excellent; it's just not the same
Why doesn't it take over all downloads like the now defunct Chrono Download Manager? If i click on a link to a zip, or torrent or exe, I wish for it to be the default download app/extension...
@Nils, DTA for FF is/was the single greatest addon ever created. Exceptional. The most incredibly useful tool I can imagine. It is the only reason I use FF. The most important feature for me in pre-Quantum FF is the ability to download files and retain their existing modified date. It tells me if/when documents have been updated since my last download. Is it possible to add the option to 'Set file time to last modified time (server) or time of queuing' to this extension?
The best download manager for any browser on any operating system, period. It is indeed a blessed day that it is now available for Chrome based browsers and also is reborn as a WebExtensions extension making it usable with the so-called "new" Firefox. God bless Nils and other contributers. Of course, it would be of help if everybody using this extension would also bless them with some monetary contributions!
Is there any way to hide html files from showing up in the download manager? Great extension btw, Im glad this is back
Best Plugin. I love it. Developer guys u are awesome!
The #1 most useful extension I've ever used. I've used Firefox for years until they moved into FF Quantum and broke all of my extensions; moving to Chrome has been a horrendous task. Now that DTA is back for both I may just switch back to FF, but at least having this here makes it that much better. Thank you for your time and efforts :)
Finally it was updated to Firefox and released to Chrome, but I really miss the feature of adding download pieces so we can have multiple connections for the same file to download faster.
I kept an old copy of portable firefox on my PC just to use DownthemAll, now it's finally available on Chrome I can remove firefox. Simply the best in browser download tool you can get.
I still have to click SAVE for every single file. 25 downloads = 25 additional clicks. I'm on a MAC any suggestions?
always the king of them all downloaders
amazing tool
A must-have extension I prayed would come to Chrome. Amazing that they did it, and with so many of the features that makes it the powerhouse manager it is.
It does what it needs to and does it quite well. I'll always miss the way it could save to folders , like the old version could, but I am just glad that the web's only trustworthy Download Manager is back, and on Chrome no less. FWIW, using it in Vivaldi with no issues.
Finally available in Chrome as well as reavailable in Firefox!
