Not sure why some people are having issues. I installed it, opened calendar and there it was.. Sorry guys.
Doesn't work. The grey handle never appears.
Great start. As a next step I'd recommend letting the user define one continuous block of "active hours", so that we can also hide late night, and this should also satisfy the night owl feedback). Also, this does not work on my work calendar and gives me a tool tip that it only works in English, but my calendar is already in English.
did nothing but wasted my time changed language, deleted extra clocks, reset, rebooted, restarted, reswore a few few times didnt hide my morning, just wasted it - don't try this
nice! I would even give 10 stars, if you could also implement to extend the night hours. so that my day goes to 3 a.m (without a breakpoint), and starts again at 8. looking desperately for this feature :(
Установил, все сработало (гугл-календарь на английском), полезно, спасибо. Присоединяюсь к просьбе добавить скрытие и вечерних часов.
I'd like this much more if I could set the color of the morning bar - I use a dark theme, and the gray is a bit blinding. Also, like others have mentioned - being able to block out evening hours is likely a must-have addition for many.
This extension is solidly 50% helpful. It's great that I can hide morning hours, but its use is seriously limited for me because there's no way to start those "morning" hours later than 12AM. I'm a major night owl, I'm self-employed, and I have a chronic illness that also means my average workday can start any time between 10AM and dinnertime. I don't always put events on my calendar during that time, but it can be helpful with time tracking and keeping tabs on my workload. For someone who works a night shift, this extension would be counterproductive. Letting people customize their "morning" hours to fit their non-working time seems like a really simple fix, and it would make the extension so much more useful.
Doesn't work for me at all. No handle,, no effect.
"Small but smart" details makes life easier.Thank you.
Should be included in the default calendar. Amazing!
It does what it says, which is good. It would be GREAT if it let you set an end time and it zoomed/stretched entries in the workday/not-hidden area to fill the screen vertically.
I used to love this Extension but it stopped working suddenly and I assumed it had been removed from my Chrome. but nope, it's still there and still enabled, and yet if I refresh my G-Cal the little grey slider that shows the hours to hide never appears anymore. I've tried removing it and readding it, it jsut doesn't work. (*using edge and chrome btw)
A) Love that I can hide a typically empty block (between midnight and for me 7am local) I am seeing an issue when I've got mid-7am blocked. If I duplicate an event, there is an issue where I can see and adjust the hidden time. I have to adjust the hidden time to nothing in order to see the date/time of the event I'm trying to duplicate. After finishing the duplicate, I need to reset the hidden hours back to mid-7am. I will send screenshots if that'd help.
1. Love that it hides my morning! 2. No option to hide evening hours prior to midnight, which would be very useful. 3. There seems to be a glitch - when I create or edit a calendar item, the slider bar to change the hours I'm hiding shows up on top of the calendar item.
Does exactly what it says and does it well. Would love the ability to hide night hours as well.
This used to work great until today. Now if I try to add a new meeting, instead of it showing me the date and time fields, it shows the compacted timeline. I hope you publish a fix soon, because this plugin was very handy before this.
Alas, this extension is not helpful. The point of having it is so that the useful information expands vertically, except that with this extension, it does not and the removed useless entries are replace with whitespace at the bottom of the screen. Also it's not possible to set an end time, and hide the evening too. So alas, this extension is of no use.
Half way to awesome. Now my calendar has no wasted space at the top of the screen! However the bottom of the screen still have 20cm dedicated to night time. If you could make it hide the evenings so that the appointments can now be big and easy to read that would be amazing! Great work so far and would be happy to contribute to dev effort
Does what it advertises well, but without support for hiding evening hours it's not that useful for me. The visual space where it shows "midnight - 04:30" could also be reduced.
Brilliant. Works well with the language set to English (UK). Thank you!
Great, useful product. I was so frustrated with having to scroll every time I opened my calendar. This extension rocks. Make sure to reload your calendar/restart your computer once it downloads or if you have issues. You can get rid of the "Bedtime Coach" ad by clicking it and declining to try it. Thanks for this time/frustration saver!
It does what it´s supose to do, so happy with that. _BUT!_ It adds an ad / commercial for "Bedtime coaching" into my calendar as whole day activity. And the link in the "information box" directs to a broken page. Probably just the devs. way of making money from this. But, still, sneaky!
Very quick and easy to install and get running. Disappointed that you can't use it for evenings, it would be great if you could set it up for 6 pm - 7 am rather than the default midnights so you can just see your working hours
Used to work great but no longer. Have English (UK) setup so maybe that's why it is. Tried reinstalling and everything.
At the moment, I am failing to make it work. It doesn't do anything at all. But I see from the reviews that other people have had the same problem, but later they made it work. I am an optimimist. Maybe next time I restart my computer, it will work, but at this moment it is completely useless. (Later that day) No. My optimism was misplaced. It just doesn't work, but I shall wait a while before removing it, in case you suggest a solution. UPDATE A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. I have tried everything including refreshing the page, changing the language from UK English to US English, restarting the computer and removing and re-installing the extension, but it does absolutely nothing. The empty morning hours from midnight to breakfast time are as visible as they always were. I suspect it might be hindered by another extension I am using in connection with Google calendar. I can't think of any other reason for it to not work.
December 2021 it doesn't hide any hours.
Loveee this feature! However, it doesn't work well with another feature - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/custom-calendar-backgroun/acjecbgflnhmeldadcbblhfdimhifpki?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon because I don't like the white background. When I uninstall this feature, your feature works well. But when I want to customise the background using that feature, your feature unfortunately doesn't work. ? It would be awesome if it works well with each other. ◡̈ Esp for those who wanna customise their calendar backgrounds like me. Hope you take this into consideration for upgrading. Thanks.
It works. Pity can't also cut out a few night hours. But does what it says on the tin.
This is great! However, I wish the extension worked for the calendar widget/pop out (not sure what you call it, sorry, not a techie) on Gmail. That's the calendar I use most, the narrow column on Gmail. If the extension could also be used for that, please let me know! Also, I second or eighth, the others' comments about hiding the evening hours. It would be nice to have that option as well. Thank you! Your efforts are appreciated!
Would be perfect if you could also hide night hours or specify the hours to hide by typing them in. Sleek appearance, though.
This bar, that it puts on the week view also appears on the months view. That's a huge bug there...
Works well. Would be great if you can change the color (say for darkmode). I have the Dark Reader Chrome extension installed, and it couldn't change the color of this this extension to black.
It hides the scroll but doesn't give more space, events still use the same height with unused white space at the bottom, so not much difference
Thank you for creating this! Agreed that expanding features to hide evening hours would be helpful too, but I AM able to hide morning hours on the day view, so relatively few complaints. Thanks again!
It adds a feature that should be built-in. Does exactly what it promises. I wish there was also an option to hide nighttime hours. I only use Google Calendar for work, so I almost never anything scheduled before 8AM or after 6PM. When I right-clicked the extension icon, I saw an option to "enable bedtime mode." What does that do?
Not sure why, but it's not working in weekly view, even after reloading and reinstalling. The bar appears, but I can't drag it
This is such a great extension to clean up the calendar daily view. The implementation is perfect. It does what it says and simple to use! Works amazingly!
nice !! it make calendar cleaner.
It works great thank you! Do you know if there is a way to do the same but for night hours?
Works on 'Day' or 'Week' view, happy days
Raphael, why is this extension free? Using it for some years, love it!
I would like to echo the requests to start the tool before midnight and to make it appear slimmer, on a single line instead of two lines. It would be nice to customize color to black, white, or whatever instead of gray. I also don't know if it's an issue with my browser settings, but I think it would truly button up the extension if the activator on the left column would disappear when you scroll down. for me, it remains stuck at the top even when you go down to the end of the day, like a "frozen" row in microsoft excel. it would be much nicer and smoother if it stayed tucked away when you scroll off.
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you! For those that it wasn't working for in 2018, the 2019 update seems to have fixed it.
Works well. but would be great if you could hide the evening and expand the daytime
This works well to get rid of all the wasted space before my workday starts. I will give five stars if we can also hide 'evening hours', using a similar slider mechanism. Ideally I'd like to see my active working hours expand to fill my viewport. As it currently works, the inactive morning hours are hidden, but over half of my screen is filled with empty white space.
Works great, on Chrome as well as on Edge (Version 88). I do lament that it only handles mornings. Would love to do the evenings as well, but I suppose there's a technical reason that the dev can't or won't. I certainly appreciate it for what it does. Thanks.
It doesn't work at all
I use a rolling 5 day view mostly, works perfectly. Thanks!
This is a good start, though I find myself not using it because it takes a bit too much screen space (sized like an hour time slot, 2 rows). Even though it has two rows taken up, if there are two events inside that time interval, the text display still only consumes one row and says "2 events" versus the actual name of the two events, but for one event you get the name of the actual event. So there is no value to the top row beside "midnight". My suggestion is to tweak this tool to be one row high only, by eliminating the "midnight" row which is wasted space. My second suggestion is to have a way to snap this view open and back to its previous view without having to drag each time. That would allow a peek at earlier events as needed and back to the user setting without redoing drag and drop each time. Thx
It worked perfectly! Thanks a lot!
Waste fo time. It does not work anymore, even after setting the language to English (US). Got an annoying advert for bedtime coach instead. Google, please take this off!
Hey thanks, this works great - one piece of feedback is just when you collapse the left side bar to make the calendar full screen, the vertical lines in the greyed-out section no longer match up with the rest of the calendar/ they're shifted a bit too far to the left, but otherwise everything's all good!
Doesn't work at all.
This is the closest thing I could find to an appropriately compact weekly view for google calendar.
Excellent plugin! Though there's currently a layout alignment bug in Week/Day View if the Google sidebar isn't showing (toggle hamburger menu top-left).
Does what it says and simple to use! Raphael, I'm interested in this extension supporting nighttime hiding and expanding of the calendar to fill the screen so that the time blocks are larger. I am willing to help out on this effort! Let me know, thanks.
I really like the idea, and the implementation is perfect -- not in the way or awkward. Unfortunately, this version looks like it's not useful for 4K monitors. On mine, it removes the morning hours but creates and equal amount of blank space at the bottom of the calendar after midnight, which doesn't make the viewed hours any larger. Add me to the notification list if you update it!
it's probably my fault, but i cannot for the life of me make it stick, and it doesn't help with the collapsed PM hours, which are all jammed up when i go to print it. is this for a display only?
Works as easily as it could: just scrolls down so that the default view would start from 9 a. m. Perfect!
Love this app. The only thing missing is the hiding of night hours.
Why does clicking on a link in an appointment go via a "Bedtime Coaching" page really briefly? Very suspicious! What is it doing? What data is it hijacking? Why is there no option to prevent it?
Not working for me.
Worked like a charm and helps me scroll less while I'm in the "week" view for google calendars.
I loved this, but when I installed the most recent version on another computer it's broken when I installed it, I click on the icon and it crashes :(
I was confused at first because clicking on the icon resulted in a "Enable Bedtime Coach" but nothing about "Enable Hide Morning Hours", and then I came back to this page and realized the gray handle has already been added to week view. Dragged it around and it worked perfectly! I'd suggest adding a "help" button to the extension with a link to a quick 1 min tutorial video, and also to default the initial setting to 6 AM so users can immediately tell the difference on the calendar page.
it worked for me, but seems now its not :( i am in pain cant find how to fix this
Nope. Doesn't work. Reloaded Cal. Removed and readded extension. Reloaded cal again. Nothing.
As of 9/11/19 this retarded app no longer works. They or google pulled another "Bill Gates" and made some tweak without testing it....garbage...
This is a great extension, I used to be able to hide specific hours via google labs I believe, but they took that feature away. It would be great if it could also hide extra evening hours, in a similar manner. Thank you!
Thank you! I was so angry when google removed that feature, and now I can have it back!!!
In the old google calendar I would collapse morning and night hours. This extension works well for me but only collapses the morning. It would be more useful if you could also collapse evening hours, so that all after-work events were in a second grey bar at the bottom.
Atrocious. Does not work at all and not user-friendly.
Works like a charm. I wish it had the capability to hide different times on different calendars (personal and my business calendar). If there's a way and I'm missing it, please let me know.; ;)
Awesome! I provided my feedback to Google and have done nothing since they removed this feature. And now, in 2 clicks, I got it back perfectly working. No fuss, just great. Remember to reload the calendar once the extension is installed.
Thank you! I can't believe millions are not using this! Shame on Google for not doing this themselves, and kudos on a seamless and extremely useful extension!
I finally realized you need to be in "Day/Week/3 or 7 days view", then it works. Wish it worked in month view, which is what I always use. Add month view for at least 4 stars. It did also add a 'bedtime coach' icon to the browser which I don't want but I was able to hide it.
Doesn't seem to work.
Initially I thought it wasn't working. Didn't realize it defaults to doing nothing -- you need to drag down a little gray handle to set your morning limit. Wish there was an end-of-day limitation, too, and I also wish it expanded the height of events to fit the available space!
Great app. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that after I collapse the overnight hours, I wish the line of blank blocks left to represent the overnight hours would also disappear. Having every line of usable space on my calendar is important to me. But otherwise, love it!
It did exactly what I needed. I work during the day, so it was nice to eliminate anything between 1am and 6am (you can customize that). Great little app!
worked a treat but zig zag line still there
Unstable and inconsistent. Also, only works on week view the random times it actually works.
Doesn't work. There is no "gray handle" to the left, no way to activate it. Apparently some kind of bad joke. Removed it from Chrome.
Worked a treat after a reload. My language is set to English (UK), so this came as a pleasant surprise!
I almost rage-uninstalled this extension, but what I realised was that the icon for the extension doesn't light up for me when I'm on the calendar.google.com page. And when I'm in week-view I can then use the gray handle to adjust the "start of the day" which is nice. I do a lot of daily agenda management so getting this to work in the day view too would be a massive help which is the only reason I've not give it 5 stars (yet!)
Added it once, but it didn't work. Tried removing it and adding it again, but still doesn't work... You get a grayed-out icon on the toolbar, and when you goto Google calendar and look for the functionality it's not there, and the icon stays grayed-out. Maybe it's incompatible with some other configuration choice? (Update, restarted my PC the next morning and this extension started working!)
