Paid $5 to only download 100 messages out of thousands...waste of money

It was working on Chrome until i got an error saying 'Failed to get messages from the server'. Then i tried it on Microsoft Edge, kept getting the same 'Failed to get messages from the server' error. I tried changing time intervals in the Options menu. Still the same error. I also tried deleting then re-installing the extension and still got the same error. So then i tried using a completely different computer that has Chrome on it and i'm still getting the 'Failed to get messages from the server' error... Eventually, i tried downloading messages in short spaces of time (e.g. the space of 1 month, or 2 months). It wouldn't work when i did this at the start and kept coming up with the same error, but then after a while it suddenly started working when doing this on the Edge Browser. It's a good extension well worth the 6 dollars and a lot of people are writing unfair reviews. I've also tried and paid for their Instagram chat saver as well and it's brilliant! This extension is better than using the 'Download your Information' method on Facebook. Downloading your Facebook information from Facebook itself isn't as good because it's more complicated and messy, for example when you download a HTML of a conversation Facebook doesn't let you view audio or video files from that HTML only in a separate folder for media. This extension lets you view media or audio messages when you download the HTML file of a conversation and i think this extension is organized and simplistic. I'm leaving 4 out of 5 stars because the 'Failed to get messages from the server' was very difficult to deal with and i was nearly about to just delete the extension until it basically just randomly started working again. So i suggest to developers to try to fix this issue other than that it's a brilliant useful extension :)

I kept getting: "An error occured. Please check the Console tab of the Developer Tools window for more information" and "[Messages Saver for Facebook]: No messages for this period of time." So I messaged the developer. Got a response back very fast. Recommended to use Microsoft Edge. Like come on, who uses that. But after reading reviews, there seems to be a problem with the add on using Chrome. Used it on Edge, worked like a charm. Took a few tries with the options to see what I liked best. Works like a charm!

If i could rate it with 10 starts i would. August/2022 Facebook doesn't let you download messages anymore to your computer. After many tries i gave up and i found this Extension. It wasn't working for me either despite i paid without any consideration. After reading a note that this works on Microsoft Edge, guess what, it did. I needed almost 200.000 messages with my partner since we needed a proof of communication for our visa. This extension has given me the best document that i have to provide!

useless addon don't download.

Followed the instructions and downloaded to pc, refreshed the chats and even restarted my computer twice. Still can't get the date range box to become responsive so the extension hasn't helped me at all to save my chats (required because facebook is cancelling messenger for anyone without a fb account - frustrating!)

After speaking with the creator of the app, all issues were worked out and was refunded since it didn't work out for me. The app didn't work for me personally, but the app creator is a stand up person and you should give the apps a try knowing that the developer is an honest person.

I bought the paid version for 5$ how ever when i went to download the chat, i got an error message saying "An error occured. Please check the Console tab of the Developer Tools window for more information" and "[Messages Saver for Facebook]: No messages for this period of time." I dont know what to do please help

This is a pointless extension outside of mobile phones. They do not tell you until you try to use it, that it must be only for the messenger app itself or a mobile website version of Facebook which, everybody knows, Facebook no longer allows you to even see your message history ir send messages outside of the app. It will keep asking you to load a www.m.facebook.com/ address to even get this to work, blaming Facebooks new API update as a possible reason, but the problem is that's a Bs lie. They know you cannot use it in a mobile browser or desktop browser, and this app has been purposely pushed to the top of the search algorithm of Google, because they got rid if EVERY SINGLE OTHER EXTENSION that did what this app claims to do...and those others did it for FREE! Obvious collusion with Google on this one, and it does not work as advertised. Don't believe me? Go try for yourself. You won't be able to do it outside of the messenger app, and this is a browser extension, so you won't be able to use it! The fake bot accounts giving 4 to 5 star reviews with no profile picture, are probably paid shills to try and up the review score as to not be taken down. Again, they are lying because you cannot view your messages through the browser, Facebook put a stop to this on mobile devices over a year ago. It is the entire reason why you now have to have two apps to use Facebook, one specifically for just messaging.

Says it only works on mobile versions of the page. I can't use Chrome extensions on my phone or see chat history in the mobile view on desktop. Useless.

Just annoying. Downloaded the extension on desktop google chrome and activated the extension. When trying to follow instructions, select a chat to mark "from" and "to" dates there is a message: Make sure you are in a mobile facebook page m.facebook.com/messages ... how do you think now? Download chrome extension to the desktop, and then try to save it from a mobile phone? (The mobile version page does not work surfing from a desktop)

Used to work, but now it is asking |Please make sure that you are in Facebook mobile page https://m.facebook.com/messages and have selected a chat| which is not possible anymore. I canont open on a desktop, and I cannot open it on a mobile browser too. So it's impossible to save a chat anymore.

Worked perfectly well for my needs! I cannot access the mobile messages page any longer, so I used the Microsoft Edge version, and it worked just fine. At the moment, this app is the only one that could download my Messenger chats.

I used the Microsoft Edge extension and it worked like a charm, thanks a lot. 5 bucks is not a big amount to pay for being able to download my precious conversations.

I just got it and it's telling me I need a license key. Also doesn't say how much the license is, or where I can get it.

Doesn't work. Won't allow me to define a date range, literally cannot click on the date range to select anything.

This extension requires a $5 registration. It demands a key when you attempt to download messages. It would have been nice if they had simply posted that on their main page before I downloaded it.

Complete waste of time. I send messages to myself, things like reminders, passwords, story ideas. I store my videos and photos there too. For some reason Facebook has decided that they are going to stop me from sending messages and then this morning it said that I could 'Start a new conversation' at 22:15. I don't want to lose my stuff again. So thanks for wasting my time with this RUBBISH THAT DON'T WORK!!!!!!!!

Does not work after downloaded Trial expired as soon as it was downloaded. Prompt asked for registration code and payment. There was no trial.

It doesn't work, comes up with the following error: Please make sure that you are in Facebook mobile page https://m.facebook.com/messages and have selected a chat but my computer wont allow me to visit the messages on the mobile page, as soon as i click messages it takes me to the updated site - does anyone know a way around this?

Does not work at all. Takes forever to load. I've been waiting for an hour and it still hasn't loaded the data of my chat.

This extension doesnt work even in the first step. I cannot select a date and save to download a specific chat. I tried to switch many, MANY times between chats, also reload the page, nothing seems to work. Same issue, I cannot even start by selecting the dates. Do not spend money on this, it doesnt work!!

Really good extension. Downloaded more than 120,000 messages real fast. First I got confused when it showed me wrong number of messages in a chat, but after reading the FAQ I understood that I only needed to toggle between chats to fix this issue. Thanks for developing, it's a really useful app.

Shows I have message to download over 150 of them. When I click for it to download it shows no messages. What the heck is the point of this useless app. Google should take it down!!

Really enjoyed the extension! Was able to download a group chat between me and my friends that is very dear to me. The app saved all the images and stickers in the chat as well. A very handy tool!

It downloads a completely random chat history, rather than the one I actually have open. The downloaded file even has the title of the correct chat, but the conversation it contains is a completely different one. ?????

Wont let me input the dates or downoad anything. it's all grayed out, and says "Please go to https://www.facebook.com or https://www.messenger.com to download your messages or reload the page." i try to change the "web.facebook.com" to "www.facebook.com" but it keeps coming back to "web". what do i have to do?

Couldn't try the free trial...it said it expired. It was only minutes after the download. Very disappointed. I think that is shifty.

It downloads the wrong chat conversation.

Pointless if you're using it to save pictures. May as well spend the time going through each one individually because downloading with this extension completely kills the image quality. Photos that were previously over 4K resolution (and still are if saved directly from messenger) get compressed so much that they look blurry on a 1080p screen....

Just installed and free trial already expired... Why offer it if you cant ever use the product to try it?

quick to download the html version of my chat. bought the full version to download everything but it takes forever to create the zip file. still couldn't download anything other than texts.

I used it to download a conversation, I had the correct one selected, showed the right URL for the conversation in the top. I activated the extension via the button, downloaded the conversation within the selected parameters. It downloaded a completely different conversation from 18 people down the list on the left. How it can blunder that up so badly is astonishing.

Just installed it and tried to use it but it shows the message: "Free version expired. Please buy the full version."

Works well for a bit and starts with the download and maybe gets to 17% then pops up with failed to get messages from server. Retry and doesn't even manage to make it .01% before message pops up again. I have restarted chrome, uninstalled/reinstalled the extension and same results. Sometimes I will also get over 100K messages ready for download in the specific time frame and go to try again and it'll say there are less than 100 messages which is false. Was really hoping this would work as I need these messages for immigration and nothing I have used so far, including FB's own download process, has worked.

First time I tried it with quite a lengthy message... everything printed out fine except the beginning dates. On the second try, received the spinning timer which had to be cancelled. Refreshed browser and tried again and it beautifully printed out a short message conversation. I would happily pay for this extension if it captured ALL of the messages FROM date TO date.

It downloaded the conversation alright, but a DIFFERENT conversation. A conversation with another friend, not the one i wanted to download.

Paid for the extension and it doesn't download images in full res?! What gives?

Tried it. First time, it seemed to work but no file was left in my Downloads folder (and that is the correct folder). Next time I ran it a warning came up saying no messages for the dates chosen -- and the are message for the time frame.

it seems to work fine, just downloaded the HTML of a huge chat... the images repeat three times on the same line, though. ALSO: Tried to download the ZIP version of the chat, it takes a while but in the end I managed to get it all... BUT I am not able to expand it! My Mac Archive Utility begins unzipping, but then says: "Unable to expand the file. (Error 1: Operation not permitted!) PLEASE HELP! Thanks a lot

For the first time, I was able to use a chrome extension that really works and do its job. Thank you for responding and helping me when I can't figure it out after I purchased it. If you want to save your FB Messenger conversations, images, etc. I highly recommend this tool!

I found this extension back in 2017/2018 and I was already in love with it then! After that, it disappeared and now I'm a little disappointed that it requires payment. Currently, I'm using the trial version and have downloaded my messenger chats (in text only format). However, I am unable to copy and paste directly from the text file, which renders this entire extension useless to me. @ devs, is there a way to overcome this issue?

It does not save pictures even though I went into the options and checked for it to be a zip file with all pictures. It only saves text.

This app worked amazingly fast. I like the idea of different formats, CSV format is very useful for me. Kudos to the developer.

I have a chat I wish to download that is over 27,000 messages that goes back three years. It seems to be taking forever to do anything and is stuck in the "Processing received messages" phase. This is a lot of messages and I am worried that it has crashed. Help!

Got it to work but why does Google Chrome sync need to be on? And what's the trial limitation if there is one? Nowhere mentions this and about it costing £2.49. I was wondering why on earth I needed to sign in to add this extension. An option to use 24hr clock would be great. I find 12hr clock on timestamps so annoying.

Keep getting error : FB Chat saver not defined. Step back on any other chat then step back to current chat. I did try refreshing the page and chat and it won't download.

Actually selecting the date works about 1 in 10 times, and then when you get the right dates it gets stuck on a spinning "downloading" page. 2 starts because it worked the first time (and then never again).

Step One didn't even work: can't choose date to begin with. Literally didn't respond at all to any choices.

Good in full mode, sadly doesn't work in mobile mode (m.* site and custom user agent) which is important for some people. Also the date input is not very responsive and impossible in mobile mode, will be nice to have an option to have a basic input versus complex one. An updated will be very welcomed. Thanks

it would not let me choose a start date or save. it just was not working. i need this as part of immigration and its so frustrating. it just wont let me click on anything on the box that pops up.

Was pleasantly surprised as this worked perfectly, unlike so many other services that promise to do the same, and yet constantly fail to deliver. There are some criticisms to be made - its interface is a little clunky, and the Zip file function seems to struggle with lots of images and videos, taking quite a while to load. However, the essential function of copying messages actually works. This, in my view, more than makes up for the other flaws. The basic premise is sound. So, if you want to actually be able to download and save your messages, I would happily recommend this service.

I'm experiencing a difficulty in saving the chat since 49/50 times i try to switch between chats, it's unresponsive. I hope you can quickly fix that :)

Please make this work with Messenger.com as well. Otherwise, the extension works superb!
