March 28, 2023 - This extension used to work fine but it stopped working a few days ago and now is useless! What's up??

Wish it worked, but it does not.

Excellent program thank you very much! For those that read this, in gmail the thumbnail gets a new tiny play button...don't just click on the icon - that'll bring up the normal gmail download this file prompt...look on the attachment email for the play > triangle. Worked great for me, viewing security alerts for a camera/alarm system. Using Win 10 and Chrome.

I haven't been able to get it to play anything. I would love support.

Still have windows 7 and it works like a dream. Thanks.

Excellent. Thank you for sharing. I went to the link and it auto loaded. I shut down the browser and re-opened as per Allan Barnes comment and it works for me in both Chrome & Edge (Chrome based) so I'm puzzled by some of the negative responses.

Simple to install, just need to reload Chrome to get it to work - and so simple to activate. Thanks for fixing this irritating shortcoming in Chrome!

This extension works great. It makes it much easier to watch video attachments in GMAIL. One of the things I would like to see is support for .wmv file formats.

I cannot believe there are only 10,000+ users of this extension. Perhaps the '+' means there thousands of thousands more! :). Great extension. I also was going to switch chrome gmail to an email app with a video player until I installed this extension. Thank you! FYI, auto play is not important to me.

It may be great for video, but audio is another matter. Like all other Chrome extensions that claim to play WAV files, it fails to play attached wav voicemails. Tracked the problem to the fact that these use a codec not installed in Chrome. So still having to download the attached file which then plays with native codecs/apps in Windows 10. Sad.

Works great - just need to add a note to your instructions to let people know they have to close and reopen their browser to get it to work. Best and easiest add on to Chrome I've ever used - well done!

Thank goodness for this kind programer to do what GMAIL was hiding from for the last few years. They should give this person a portion of their security budget for all the folks who WONT be infecting their lives/the system with malware add-ons now that they dont have to download attachments.

Great concept and idea, but it doesn't work for me either. I receive mp4 files in gmail and when I open the email and click the play button, a window does open up and thinks like it is loading for about 3-5 seconds and then does nothing. Says video is 0 seconds and just a black screen. I know it is not the video since when I load it on gmail on the phone, it play the same video without an issue. By the way, I have tried more than 1 MP4 videos and none of them work. Hope you can get this fixed :/

works great...why didn't gmail just add it..i guess it is because MP4 is used so much by Apple..not sure. Thanks for doing it. Are there any privacy concerns by adding this app. How does the author make money for doing this?

Thank you, this mod is exactly what I was after. I do not know why Google doesn't fix the email video player but at least we have awesome developers like you to save the day.

Yikes... so simple. I needed to refresh and the icon to watch video appeared as a 3rd option. So easy. Google should hire you.

Great works !! Only one thing there is that problem that you can not run it forward manually !!

This would have received 5 stars; however -- within the past week or two the function ceased to work. The play video button no longer shows on my video file attachments within gmail.

It doesn't work for mp4 videos on my Windows 10 PC.

Strange thing is that I cannot find this extension by normal means. I found it in a forum. And I always forget where can I get it.

Many thanks for providing this extension. Shame that GMail team could not manage to do this in some manner. I tried replying on the gmail help forum, but the Add Reply was greyed out.

Wow - Thanks! The missing functionality was much more of a pain on Chromebook where one had to click around for the download.... Windows at least showed a pop up at the bottom after download...

Works good! Missing feature in gmail was the ability to immediately play video attachments without having to download, open the file, then hit play. This plugin eliminated two steps, still have to hit play as soon as it opens within gmail. But hey, still a good plugin!
