The onboarding process is very glitchy & full of errors. Not a good start....
Love it, but it would be nice to be able to contact website/domain owner as well
For those with the install bug. First remove the native keybase app from your system. First install the extension then the application. This fixed the issue for me.
Incredible. Password manager?
Does exactly what it says it does, and does so quickly and without errors.
Bug: Button doesn't show on Twitter when logged in. It does show when not logged in, both on Twitter and on HN. Issue: Since the button shows for everyone whether they have a Keybase account or not this whole extension seems a bit pointless? Or is there some cleverness to this that I'm missing? Might as well send a regular PM on any platform in question and ask them if they're on Keybase. This would in fact be more effective, compared to sending Donald Trump a Keybase message and wait forever for him to reply. Edit: Actually now I see that it says "(Not yet on Keybase)" in the dialogue, but only after clicking the button. Wouldn't it make sense to make this clear before showing the button in the first place? Also I'm not 100% sure the option was there before enabling "Query profiles passively while browsing" in the extension settings. Now it's there whether the setting is enabled or disabled. What does the setting actually do?
Works as expected on windows
Does exactly nothing on Chrome OS. Icon is gray.
It does what it sets out to do quite well on Windows, it would be nice to check every profile against the database automatically to visually indicate if the person is on Keybase yet without having to click on the button first. This extension only serves as an add-on feature to your installed desktop Keybase software, but people might get confused if they don't know what it's supposed to do.
Doesn't seem to work. Just tells me to install the app, which I already did. Chrome on mac.
The extension just adds a nice cute ICON to Chrome on Windows but does NOTHING!
love the fact i can still send a message to users even though they don't have a keybase account yet. will do wonders in helping spread the word about this great service. thanks guys
this is good idea, im try it
always greyed out and unresponsive on Windows. Haven't tried on mac.
Installed on my Chromebook, installed the Android app too, doesn't work - keeps telling me to install the app.
Running in chrome on mac ... extension doesn't work. Never see chat buttons on twitter or reddit ...
Awesome extension. Seconding Dave Dugal's idea; it would be great if people already on Keybase with that account had a different-looking button. Maybe a big ol' green checkmark next for people who already use keybase.
Clever idea, but it lights up a [Keybase Chat] button on EVERY Twitter and Facebook page, regardless if the person is on Keybase. If there were a checkbox option to only display the button for registered Keybase uses, it might be more useful.
Love the product and the folks that run it are dedicated to making it as great as it can be.
It is not functional on my chromebook. It just tells me that I need to install or download it, which I have.
So I haven't found a way to reinstall on PC and mobile if I have lost access to my registered devices. I have my information and passphrase but everything wants access to a device. Also unable to locate any sort of support for the app/service beyond documentation that doesn't appear to cover my situation and a GitHub page for reporting actual app bugs and issues. No idea what to do and I'm left with an account I can only use at the website which offers less functionality.
cool!
A very interesting startup. They have a decent Android app, a very nice Linux Client - and of course for Windows and Mac... I like the entire conception of KeyBase.io The last thing of their entire project is the Chrome Extension :)
To top all of this off is there actually a Gir theme?
Please add changelog. Also, please fix to play nice with Grammarly for Chrome. The text window gets all screwed up. And whats up with the right arrow?
Really great addition to the Keybase app ecosystem. Clean and easy to use.
I've already started testing this w/ a roommate for chat/file-share. I hope eventually to be able to use the traditional GPG use-cases of encrypt/decrypt-sign/verify from the desktop/mobile apps.
This is precisely what keybase needed. Hoping that it can be a way in which people can be able to contact people from the social media sphere in a manner that is safe for them to do so.
Works great! It's getting easier to get people to sign up for keybase with stuff like this.
Seems to work.
