I'd been looking for an extension like this for a while. It's quick, carefully explains what it's doing, warns you before deleting something you might not want to, and found the majority of duplicates and broken links in my bookmarks.

This worked great. It gives you a detailed list of all the website errors and makes it easy to trash em all!

It found duplicates, but it wasn't clear that it was showing duplicates or all bookmarks that were duplicated. If I removed everything listed, then I would have lost all of those bookmarks instead of just the duplicated ones. Not useful. Also, it separates lists of duplicates by folder, it should separate by bookmark. Going to try a different tool. There should be a "remove all duplicates" button that removes all but one of a bookmark of the same url and name.

Good, not great. Great is that it saves you a LOT of time if you've been accumulating bookmarks across different machines over decades of browsers crashing unexpectedly and are trying to make sense of them. In my case, I had over 68,000 in my collection. It took about 2 days for this program to go through them! I'd frequently take a peek to see the progress, and new adds appear for the numerous error codes that are apparently generated. I try to play "Hungry, Hungry Hippos/Alligators" for those of you of my vintage, but getting to the drop-down, then over to the trash can with a track ball in time before the list shifts is challenging. Having buttons to "Select All," "Deselect All," and the trashcan all next to each other would make this far easier. Also, in my case, I'd like to just delete all, I don't care what the error message is, most certainly the ones that were flagged 400- Bad Request, 401- Unauthorized, 403- Forbidden, 404- Not Found, 410- Gone (the same as 404?), 502- Bad Gateway, and the numerous codes where there's no information about what it means. I understand where some users might want to find what the current URL of a link is, but there are also those like me that don't care what it is any more. Thus, having a "Delete All" radio box for each error type would be helpful to the latter. Another good feature would be to have the date of the original bookmark, if that's available somewhere. All-in-all, despite its shortcomings, this extension is great for those of us who bookmark more than we can handle...like me!

Didn't work for me. I noticed one particular bookmark had begun duplicating itself in a variety of odd ways, recreating its folder over 2,000 times. And since there's no way to just go in and select all of the offending files easily in file explorer I tried this. When I tried this extension it moved the offending bookmark all over the place, it renamed itself as a variety of my other bookmarks, I had to reload from backup (DEFINITELY SAVE A BACKUP!). The initial problem is obviously on my end, it feels like there is a corrupt file somewhere that I can't identify and repair. I would select and delete all the duplicate files and then click the "find duplicate files" button again and they'd be right back where they were duplicating themselves. I've disabled bookmark syncing, I just don't know what to do. EDIT: 2 Stars to 5 Stars Ok, so I manually deleted everything except empty folders (one by one about a hundred items), restarted my computer a few times periodically to try to clear any corrupt memory cache that might have been persisting in Chrome (I was getting weird choppiness), I was then able to run the extension from a fresh startup and delete all of the empty duplicate folders and it seems to have worked without duplicating anything else.

The big problem with this extension is the layout of the broken links results. First, it only shows the URL, not the name of your bookmark which makes it very difficult or impossible to know what the link was supposed to go to. Second, the bookmarks are also not shown by where in your bookmarks folder structure the broken bookmark is. If the developer changed the broken links display to show it as the bookmark names and within the folder structure, and just put the type of error next to the ones with a problem, the extension would be useful. I found another extension called "Bookmarks Checker" which has a proper display, however it doesn't have the ability to exclude folders like this extension does.

Despite the silly reviews, this still works as of Dec 25 2022. If you need something more advanced, Chrome bookmarks are saved in JSON and exported in HTML, both of which are easy to edit with a script.

Be nice if it worked. it does nothing. And crashes constantly. So yeah... Love the idea, maybe someone will come up with one that actually works!

I have 40,000 bookmarks, and 7,000 are duplicates. Unfortunately, while the duplicate bookmark detection seems to work as expected (the numbers match a python duplicate bookmark script I found elsewhere), there seems to be NO way to say "delete all duplicates". So this tool, while it appears to be well written, will not handle my use case.

This is nice. I've come to realize, in a browser like Opera (or others with a "Speed Dial" like option built-in), it's necessary to "exclude" that folder--which BTW is shown in the exclude options in your plugin (i think). The recursive sorting extensions (e.g. super sort), unfortunately does not offer the exclude. Oh boy. organize, then re-organize! lol.

a couple of people have talked about the group and deletion filters.. I have a Select in same folder and remove all selected which do nothing and I have over 400 duplicates to x individually.

Excellent! this saved so much time dealing with duplicate bookmarks. It would be helpful to add a button to remove all duplicates (and only keep one), but still great.

Need a select all option, so I can select all duplicates and uncheck the first one. Or just an option to merge duplicate bookmarks, not just merge duplicate folders.

I used this in AVAST and 1159 duplicates is poooof gone LOVE this. Somehow Chrome managed to duplicate all my bookmarks, this tool cleaned up the duplicates in seconds.

LOVE this APP !!! I had 20 years of duplicate links in DIFFERENT folders and a lot of broken URL. I started to manually try and clean up my bookmarks, and after 30 minutes barely has 1/2 percent done. I searched for a Chrome extension to automate this process and Bookmarks clean up was the answer. As a side note, until I found (below) the process of using Bookmarks clean up still appeared to be very manual in order to DELETE the duplicate links that the the app. found. On the bottom RIGHT there are 2 selection filters that came in handy for "GROUP" selection and group deletion.. Once I applied them and it saved me hours of time.

Finds dupes fine but makes you select each manually. This is fine when you have a dozen or two of dupes but I had to remove thousands of dupes. For me this app was useless.

EASY! Real easy. It detects, you check mark the duplicates, delete all or one at a time. That's it. No overthinking. Smooth GUI.

I always sceptics to extensions like this, they usually not work. But this one is work as expected, I am impressed it fix all mess in my bookmarks thousands of dead links from my previous work, and thousands of duplicates, I don't know how Chrome did the tones of duplicates, but I can fix it using this extension.

Almost perfect, but doesn't give you any information about *where* the bookmark exists in your saved data when scanning for broken links. It simply gives you the status of URL outside any context (folder, label, etc.). This is useful, but far from perfect since I have no idea which bookmark I'm actually deleting.

This extension is a freaking godsend. I've tried other extensions in the past to clean up my bookmarks, and have had mixed results. I used this extension to clean up bookmarks on both Chrome and EDge (it's a little more wok on Edge, but it gets the job done). Outstanding! 10 stars!

Loved it. Can you please update it and bring an option to add specific bookmarks into a exception list? There are some of my favorites that are duplicated on purpose, so i wanted them to be ignored so a "Ignored Favorites" list would be very cool to have. Thanks again for this nice extension.

Excellent feature to select all duplicates from same folder, which saves lots of time when removing duplicates after importing from another browser. Worked flawlessly after I cleaned up almost 500 duplicates (from 1000 in the list in total). Definitely worth your time to download this!

Very clean and useful extension. Importing bookmarks from different browsers create a lot of mess. This little extension helps in a big way to clear some clutter.

Works as it should ! Since I have like 500+ duplicate bookmarks after importing from FFox, it would be nice to be able to separate them in one folder only and delete that bunch with one click; but voila ! There is a little button that will let you delete in bunches from the same folder - problem solved.

Cleaned evrything up nicely. Shame there isn't a single click for deleting an entire folder of merged bookmarks - rather than having to select each bookmark first - then select rubbish tin icon at side of folder, same as user @Layla K Brown also identified. But, I guess it's a back-stop/safety-guard. Took about 1- 2 hours to clean up over 300 bookmarks

Wow, wasn't expecting something so great for free. I used cash app to send the creator an amount of bitcoin I thought reflected the value I saw in the extension. Under settings (gear icon) at the very bottom in tiny blue letters is the word "donate" I mention that because it's akin to being hidden, and I really appreciate no ads, and really really appreciate that I didn't get hit with a pop up "give me money!" to the extension creator: great work, as someone mentioned being able to delete all broken links in one fell swoop would be nice, but honestly, I didn't find it too much of a chore compared to when I attempted to manually sort my book marks a while back and had to give up.

Excellent! It's the best bookmark cleaner and manager of the Chrome Web Store. I managed to clean duplicates, empty folders and non-working urls in a few minutes. Used to clean Google Chrome before merging bookmarks and migrating everything to MS Edge. Kudos to the developer for this great extension.

Chrome glitched out and duplicated every single one of my bookmarks. This extension saved me so much time. Thank you for developing such a useful set of tools. After one use, I uninstalled because I have no further use for it but I had to leave a review and will be recommending it to friends.

It worked as advertised. However, it was slow. I only have 200 bookmarks. It took 10-15 minutes to delete stuff. The tools need to be a bit faster and such.

Does what it says but could be a lot better. Merges Dupe folders without any check - so if you call two subfolders Misc for example in different parent folders you get boned. On duplicates it COULD allow a select one of each to remove option but removing 50+ dupes one at a time becomes tedious. There used to be an extension for Fast Bookmark Scanner II if memory serves. Did a better job but no longer on store.

Good for someone who isn't very bogged down with a ton of bookmarks, but the method seemed slow for someone who has a bigger need. Went with a more automated and quicker extension.

This has made chrome unusable and even after uninstalling it chrome has become a memory hog. Very unusual!

It's waaay too easy. This is the stuff. Had 3000+ bookmarks - cleaned it up in 15 minutes, now I have 1100. Cleaned the dupes, folders, dead links. Awesome stuff. 1 thing that I would like to see improved - Donation! Wanted to send over some love, but I'm not familiar with bitcoin and not yet ready to become a patreon on a regular basis. This works better than the Super Sorter, in finding duplicates, but here is a problem for windows in Dark Mode, You CAN NOT SEE the folders to exclude in Options. Also, it lacks the option to select all but last or certain folders.. .. I just checked it, there is a bug. if you pick options from the ICON(right mouse click) and then try to view the folders to exclude to pick, the windows is solid black, but if you open it up to click on find duplicates,and choose the same option there from that page in the settings, you can see the options.

Thanks so much for this! After years struggling with 1000's of duplicate bookmarks this is the first add-on that has been able to really help. For some reason many of my duplicates were in a single folder. It would be great to have an option to auto-delete duplicates that appear in certain folders.

SO GOOD! I've never left a review for a chrome extension before, but this thing just whipped my entire bookmarks section into shape. I had re-imported my bookmarks 5 times over the years (by accident, I swear!) and I hated looking through my list. This extension saved me soooo much time~

Great idea. Doesn't work but great idea. Maybe if you have 10 or 20 duplicates it will work But I have thousands of chrome duplicate bookmarks. The extension tried several times then gave up and and took itself off my list of extensions.

Wow, this was awesome. I had over 1200 bookmarks that I've been needing to clean up for at least 10 years. This extension just removed all my duplicates, deleted empty folders and showed me all my dead links and within minutes I am done with this task once and for all. It walked me through how to back up my bookmarks first, which made me confident to move forward. It showed me my duplicates and let me select which folder to delete it from. It automatically deleted my empty folders. It showed me all my dead links and let me pick and choose which to delete. I opted to keep some of them because I wanted to try and find the updated URL to bookmark that instead. I recommend asking the tool to delete empty folders again after you have deleted all your dead links. Great job to whoever designed this!

First bookmark plugin I found that actually works as expected

Identical experience to another recent reviewer... I have ran the tool, identified hundreds of bookmarks... but then it appears I am to scroll down through that gigantic list and click on the "delete" trash can next to each one that it finds? There are so many that clicking "delete" then hangs and I have to wait while it actually completes the action. Click... wait for the hand to turn back to an arrow... I mean this is on a relatively new desktop PC (2 yrs old) - There does not appear to be a BULK delete option. I was hoping to scroll through, do a review and then press a gigantic detonator trusting that all my dupes would be blown away... that is not the case. Would love to update review to 5* - would even see this a a worthy "premium" feature for a couple of bucks. Also @ Google - get your syncing act together.

Maybe I missed something, maybe not, but, the app searched my entire bookmarks collection that I started over 20 years ago. Was pretty quick too. Nice. The app found 800+ duplicates among the thousands. OK, great! I want to delete them, but how? Am I seriously supposed to select every single bookmark that is a duplicate to then delete it? You have to be kidding. I'm really hoping I am wrong about this, in which case I will reverse my review 100%. Otherwise, this add-on is garbage. Thanks, VK

Instantly walks you through a clean-up process that behaves exactly as you would hope/expect. First it looks at dupes in same folders, then across separate folders (showing paths). Then broken links. In the review step, you can "select all" and it knows to select all except 1 instance (of dupes). I just got rid of 1700 duplicates (some bug was causing them to appear by the DOZEN)... This extension saved my Bookmarks, pretty much, things were out of hand.

Definitely in the right direction. However the feature I'm lacking is the ability to select any folder (and it's subsequent folders, if selected), and select any duplicates found elsewhere for removal. This would function in vice-versa, where the folder selected is containing the duplicates that will be marked for deletion. Regardless, the extension has the essentials of a fantastic tool.

Good grief, I wish I had this sooner. I have over 55,000 bookmarks in Chrome, most of which are working and needed but cleaning out duplicates/deadlinks when numbers run this high becomes impossible so I end up spending extra time everytime I create a new one to make sure it's not a duplicate. It's simple, fast and smooth.

This extension is a great time saver! It was also simple to use. I appreciate the recommendation to back up your bookmarks before using the extension to clean up.

DO NOT USE just a WASTE of TIME. Simply does NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY!

It's great, but I just wish I had some quick way to choose other options what to do with the bookmarks. Some of them, despite being broken/page not found, I would like to put into a folder so I can remember the site itself. But the options you get is "Delete, or don't delete", there's no "Move to folder" option. Being able to create folders, and organize the bookmarks into separate folders while you're at it would be great options to have. But if you're just looking to clean out the clutter, it does a great job at that.

It does what it says, but duplicate bookmarks keep replicating, (mine in the thousands) each time you close and open chrome again... It's making me crazy.

It does not support bulk selection/removal of duplicate bookmarks so you have to remove them by hand which is no better than Chrome's Bookmarks Manager. Every time I'd convince myself to clean up all my bookmarks that I've amassed over the past 15 years, I'd get started and quit within the first 30 minutes. This extension made it so easy to see which links were no good, tally up all the duplicates, and allow me to get rid of over 1000 useless bookmarks in less than 10 minutes. Can't recommend it enough!

Exceptional!! Cleaned up bookmarks that I'd have sitting for years. Got rid of duplicates, and while I do wish it was a little more intuitive about selecting duplicates, I really did clean everything up pretty quickly. I don't rate many extensions, but felt this one did deserve to be rated.

Seems to work great at removing a ton of duplicates. But they keep coming back. Must have some setting somewhere that "restore" them by itself.
