Actually super useful! Not perfect - Apple and other OS don't always play well together, but overall it works 90% of the time and it's simply nice to have both sets of passwords available on all my devices, on any browser.
apple is such a joke I use an iphone but am actively avoiding everything apple software I need to use ios, android and windows and they make it a nightmare
Does not work on Mac nor on Windows, terrible. Please fix because Safari cant load some important websites
If it ever sync, this would be outstanding. But...it doesn't. I like that it fills in verification codes when needed, but it does not sync. I changed passwords on this or the iphone and it does not talk to each other. How disappointing.
It was working fine. Then about a month ago stopped working. Tried reinstalling the extension and reinstalling the whole ICloud for Windows app. Still not working.
Pointless app and shouldn't be allowed on the Chrome Web Store. Runs on windows only. Wonder why I even bother with apple anymore.
It was working nicely, but since two days it does not sync with my iphone. It seems it is creating separate lists now as the list in Chrome is empty, while the iphone still has all the details.
Loved it until it stopped working all of a sudden. Why?
The extension does not trigger js change events when it alters/enters data into form fields on a page. A lot of sites do not enable their log in buttons until form data is entered. The effect to the user is that the extension will enter credentials, but the user will be unable to submit the form. After manually changing data in the form (for instance typing an extra character into the username or password field, then deleting it) the form can be submitted. Since Apple has essentially no good way for me to report this as the bug that it actually is, I'm choosing instead to leave a bad review.
It worked great until it didn't. Just stopped working one day, now just useless. Hope they fix soon because it was very convenient.
Has been broken for quite a while now. Same issue as which the most people are repoorting here.
No support for Linux. I was relying on iCloud for password management until I switched to Ubuntu on a development laptop, and now I don't have access to my passwords, it seems. This is useless, I should ditch Apple altogether.
For anyone on a PC that noticed their iCloud Passwords or Bookmarks no longer sync properly using the browser extensions after the most recent Windows update, try the following: * Go to Add or Remove programs in System Settings and uninstall all iCloud applications. * Restart your PC then reinstall iCloud again. * Launch the iCloud app and set up the extensions again. This worked for me and everything syncs properly again : )
worked fine until the most recent Windows update. sign out, uninstall, etc nothing works
Well, it doesn't work. Second time trying this, though it may have been fixed by now. Passwords just do not show up.
doesnt really work - apple should overhaul the extension
Thank U, Next From the extension home page: iCloud Passwords lets you fill passwords created in Safari and apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac into websites in Chrome. once installed on Mac: This extension is designed to run on Windows 10. If you are using a Mac, your passwords will automatically sync with your iPhone, iPad, and Mac when you sign in to iCloud. Complete waste of time.
It is rather curious that a Windows user might easily recover its iPhone passwords under Chrome whereas a MacOsX user would be penalized and prevented from doing it!
It doesn't work AT ALL on MacOS, which is ludicrous. Come on Apple! I'd be happy to use Safari but guess what? A ton of websites won't load on Safari, including many, many banking sites, government sites and financial sites.
I got this from Ian Corbit's review. I'm on windows and it didn't work at first like everyone else. In add or remove programs remove anything with apple in it (for me was icloud and icloud outlook). Restart pc then install icloud again. Worked for me hopefully you too!
Don't worry. It doesn't work on Windows either
Oh wow, that's pretty rude, Apple. How can they be like, "Sure! You can use the browser you prefer and the password manager you prefer, it's your choice fam, we got you!" "Oh wait, you already threw a shitload of money at us? In that case, we will choose for you. Safari, you must use Safari." I'm getting punished for using a Mac, by the seller of the damn thing. the same seller who made my life easier before I bought my mac by providing a tool to share my passwords between my computer and iPhone. How does this make any sense...
It only works on windows and does not work in chrome on a MAC.
It only ran on windows... So MAC users won't allow to use chrome? Stupid...
I love this extension. It's really easy to use and syncs with my iPhone / Macbook etc so I never have to worry about remembering passwords. I do have one issue with it though. Recently it has been a bit buggy with passwords not showing up. I'm guessing either Chrome or this extension just needs an update but for now it's not working as intended. It has been working great for years though so overall I still rate it highly.
It was working great until a few days ago (05), now every time I want to activate the extension I receive the same message over and over "Enable Passwords in iCloud for Windows to use iCloud Passwords with Chrome". I launched the iCloud App, and even despite the "Passwords with Google Chrome" checkbox is activated, nothing happens, still receiving the same error. I try to restart my laptop and remove and re-install the extension but there is no fix. Please, can you double check what is going on?I'm reading other users are having the same issue.
Does not work. "Download iCloud for Windows to use iCloud Bookmarks."
Its strange but this is not working for me.. In iCloud application have "requies approval from your device" and when approve application does nothing.
It used to work fine, but after I reinstalled Windows, it stopped working. I had some issues with the permissions for the WindowsApps folder, but I fixed that by adding my account to be able to manage the folder. Even though it's now working, the Chrome extension still doesn't recognize that the app was successfully installed and opened, and it keeps prompting me to "Open iCloud for Windows," even though it's already open. I have to manually copy and paste passwords from iCloud which is a little frustrating.
As with most things coming from Apple nowadays, this is in need of some serious QA. It annoyingly continues to prompt you to turn on autofill after turning it off. The nag appears in password fields and many other text fields on some sites. The only solution I've found is to disable the extension.
Stopped working, tried all the usual condescending troubleshooting measures, then tried windows reinstall. The lesson is to not rely on free password managers and basically to rue the day premature buggy invasive tech was born.
It simply doesn't work. I am now unable to use my Apple passwords on my PC
icloud passwords used to work well but probably for the past month it hasn't been working doesn't automatically populate passwords anymore and it's not even storing them. It's a shame it was a great tool.
iCloud Passwords also save the (previous) old passwords and I am not able to delete them or update them. This is so annoying, there are multiple versions of passwords (masked) saved and populates all the different passwords in the past, without giving a feature to delete the old or update them.
Simply doesnt work, many reviews say they got it working by changing 'wrong permissions on the WindowsApps Folder under Program Files' which makes no sense to me, I dont know how that is done
Its a Mac OS Monterey 12.6.2 OS and my safari gets crashed every 10/15 mins from the time of last update 2 week back. So I decided to use Chrome and access all my icloud password I got no other choice but use this excention but it does not work at all for me in Google Chrome with Mac OSX Monterey 12.6.2.
Working pretty well. The only thing that needs fixing is the Authenticator autofill which cramps up all the numbers in the first box instead in all 6.
has been broken since window 11 22H2 got released, apple simply ignores the issue
iCloud Passwords used to work and sync & store all my passwords from my phone on my PC. Now all my passwords in the app on my PC are gone and nothing sync's anymore. No error messages or information as to why it stopped working. its by months and no fix or update yet.
Every time I click on the key a message pops up to open iCoud for Windows. When clicked, it opens the application but there's nothing to do correct it. I have done everything, from resetting, deleting software, hidden folders, etc. Nothing has worked so far. Working on a PC for work, it would have been a great help having my stored passwords accessible to me. :-(
An Apple Chrome plugin that doesn't work for Apple users but Windows? What a joke.
Extension not working as of Windows 11 22H2, please fix.
I run Chrome on an LG GRAM with Windows 11. This extension does not work. Goodbye.
Windows 11 22H2, in the iCloud Windows app there's an option to "Approve..." passwords, you click that, sign-in with Apple ID, authorize 2FA on your phone, then it just takes you back to the same window with the "Approve..." button, checking Passwords is still greyed out. Tried putting in Apple ID/pw several times and get the same result. Please fix!
It worked great for the past year, on my Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 on Chrome. Some point last month there's been conflicting issues between this and my Google Pay and auto fill in. iCloud password cancels out everything else, so auto-fill in no longer works and I have to disable iCloud to get the other things to work. It's frustrating and I have no idea why the developers would do this. I've been updating all my passwords for Chrome to match iCloud so I will no longer be using both features.
This doesn't work on MacOS. Alan Jaf, you're an idiot. We know we have keychain, but it doesn't work in chrome. THAT IS WHY WE WANT THIS EXTENSION TO WORK.
On Windows 11. Does not work. Keeps asking me to "Activate Paswords" in the iCloud App, which they are. The seperate Password app on Windows does show me the passwords but this Brwoser externsion can't... What a shame.
this does not work on windows, it messed up all my passwords
Doesn't work(
Odiei, simplesmente porquê não funciona. A Apple e Windows tem uma péssima relação.
Not working for me with Chrome on macOS. With this extension enabled, there is no option to autofill a form. It is simply not working as advertised. I had to disable it to be able to autofill.
Hey, Apple, please fix the iCloud store version on Windows 11 22H2. iCloud does not sync Google Chrome bookmarks or iCloud passwords. The bookmarks extension keeps asking to download iCloud. The application keeps asking to download the bookmarks extension. This also happens to the iCloud password extension. This issue is not limited to me, it is affecting many other users as well. Please check the comment section on the Chrome extension website or any Apple forum or Reddit… EDIT: Today on 13.11.2022 they fixed chrome bookmarks extension. But their iCloud passwords is crushing everytime I try to open it on windows 11 22h2. So apple please fix it I am using windows 11 22H2. everytime I try to open icloud passwords app it requires me windows hello pin code, I enter it. and boom it crushes and exits.
Does not work on Chrome for ChormeOS. What's the point of having a chrome extension if it only works on Windows.
This is useless on my Mac!!!! Needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
Unlike most of the reviews here, it works great for me on a PC.
Should work in Chrome on Mac. It does not. Laughable
Laughably bad, it doesn't work. I have the windows iCloud app installed, and on any page with any potential website password that I need to access, the extension just recommends that I "download iCloud for windows". The support from apple and chrome is laughably bad: "try re-installing". There is no connection between the iCloud software and google chrome, the apps don't talk to each other so the extension just ends up cluttering chrome.
I'm Apple and I'm stupid and hate Google and Microsoft. Take your head out of your walled garden and fix this! Doesn't work at all on PCs or Chrome.
Unable to delete passwords.
Used to work perfectly until all of a sudden it started telling me to "Download iCloud for Windows to use iCloud Passwords" when it is already is and has been installed for quite sometime now.
i noticed since the windows 11 22H2 update iCloud password extension doesn't seem to work via Google chrome. When attempting to click on the password extension, it asks to open the "iCloud for Windows", you then click on it and it asks to "require approval from your device", again click APPROVE, it then asks to put my apple Password in, at the top is says "iCloud password requires approval from your device running iOS 14 or masOS Big Sur or later", so i then put the password in and it does nothing (insert disapproval emoji here). PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE, many users of apple would be very much appreciated.
Why does this not work with Chrome on a Mac? Safari is not the only browser we all use on a mac.
POS, but we can't live without it if your passwords live in Keychain. using Bitwarden or Dashlane is a much useful application. Anyways Apple should FIX this, a chrome extension that does not work on Chrome OS and instead displays a message "works on Windows only"
POS. slows down my browser. cannot export passwords.
The great thing about the fact that this app doesn't work well, is that it gives a chance for other providers to have a market where they provide password managers for windows users who have other apple devices.
Apple - Fix this or give us Safari on Win 10/11. You are forcings us to stop using iCloud keychain if its not available on all platforms. Win 10 - It was never synced to the latest set of passwords on iPhone. Win 11 and Win 10 - Version 1.3 keeps giving the message enable passwords in iCloud for windows even though passwords is installed and enable on iCloud for window
This doesnt work!! The verification code just pops a blank message and the password and the bookmarks apps keep prompting to install the extension after its already installed :-( Tried this on two different Windows 10 Machines. Grr
Waste of time, don't bother. Sucks for the group of windows users who just want to have their passwords readily available no matter what device they are using. Such a massive walled garden. For y'all with macs, just transfer your passwords from safari to chrome.
total s*t
There was a time when I could install a plugin for FireFox on my Mac and it would integrade Apple/icloud Keychain into firefox in place of the firefox password manager. Then one day Apple locked down the API that allowed this to work in the name of "security". Now we see here, an icloud keychain plugin released by, not third party, no, Apple for chrome, showing that they can absolutely work with other browsers. It even has the supported OS's set to allow it to install on Chrome for Mac. But oh, wait, it says it's only for windows when you try to use it after adding it to Chrome. In this situation, Windows users here are getting better service from Apple than the people who actually buy Mac computers from Apple. How's that for a smack in the face? Who green lit this decision? I can't even. Release browser plugins for Apple Keychain on Mac OSs. Apple now is really being like Microsoft of the 90s but somehow even worse. I'm really rooting for some good hard smack down on Apple in the form of Antitrust regulations. I have really liked using Mac OS over the decades, but yeah.... this. Oh, let's not forget the shear disconnect here since you can use password entry from the iOS keyboard in any login screen on iOS, regardless which browser you're in. Sure it's all just reskinned safari/webkit, but to the regular user it is just a complete break in how things from Apple work. One of the big things about Apple products is supposed to be It just works, but this kind of incongruence just totally breaks that.
Suddenly the add-on no longer works a few weeks ago. Keep popping up the windows asking me to open the iCloud App for Windows while it has been running. I have reinstalled the extensions as well as apps and reset the profile several times, but the issue remains pending.
The extension simply doesn't work - and I suspect it's on purpose: Apple, let us put of your terrible walled garden!
Just doesnt work!
This extension has never worked. Windows 10 and an iPhone 12. Never sends the code, even though I authenticated it. Should have known better to trust Android/Google and its privacy broken stores with my Apple ecosystem. UNINSTALLED.
I am a Mac user and would like to use iCloud Passwords in Chrome. This extension is limited to Windows.
Please fix this. The iCloud Bookmarks extension worked until I got the iCloud app from the Windows Store. Keychain works as an app, but not as extension, so it's useless. Nothing works except the iCloud Drive.
It's never worked months ago and still does not work now. Just asks to download icloud everytime.
This worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Awkward and unnecessary 2FA on the same screen, but at least it worked. Is anyone aware of a similar extension that works so I don't have to change a ton of passwords now?
This stopped my native Chrome passwords being saved and caused general confusion. As usual - Apple tries to take over...and fails
the extension doesnt work I try to apply changes and it just resets to normal.
Doesn't even work on Chromebook!!
So I'm one of the lucky ones where this extension "works". I put that in inverted commas because it functions, but doesn't do it well. Why on earth do I need to input a 2FA code (that comes from a popup window on the same PC, hardly very 2 factor) into the Chrome extension every time I reopen my browser? Why on earth does it take several seconds and several clicks on a password box to even get the popup to choose a saved password? Why on earth does it sometimes enter the username but not the password? In short, it's almost worse than not having it. Almost.
Please create a Mac version. My entire family's ecosystem is on Mac—5+xiPhones, 2xiPads, 2xPencils, 7xMacs, 1xWatch, 1xiPod, 4xAirTag. And that's just the current state. We cycle through this every year. But because I choose to use Chrome on Mac, I can not access an important feature I paid for. You have got me— lock, stock and barrel. Now can I have you in the same way?
How about linux?
Suddenly stopped working. It had been working fine for several months, but a few days ago, it started telling me that I have to install iCloud app, which had been installed for months. I tried re-installing the extension, the app, and rebooting the laptop, but none of them worked.
Doesn't work for Mac Chrome. Thanks for leaving loyal customers high and dry, again.
Did just as I expected. Synced the pws from my iCloud with chrome. Very useful
I thought I could use that to import passwords from Chrome into iCloud. HAHA, NO. It offers to sync passwords, but it just not doing it. There's just no function to import passwords in to iCloud using a Windows machine at all. You should use Apple hardware to IMPORT passwords into iCloud. How bizarre is THAT?
Doesn't work at all. Passwords will not sync.
Does not work. Clicking on the extension only asks user to install iCloud for windows. Extension does not recognize that iCloud has already been installed as a Microsoft store app.
Not working as expected. I have iCloud for Windows installed, and then added the iCloud Passwords extension for Chrome. But when I click it to open, I am greeted with a need to install iCloud for Windows and a Download button. The extension is not acknowledging that iCloud for Windows is already installed and running.
This extension is very useful for efficiency.
Always requiring me to download icloud for windows whenever I click on the icon in the chrome
soo good. was waiting for this feature for so looong
Finally! It got updated and now autofills without the 2fa every single time!
Great update! Keep going.
it is just unbereable... every time that annoying pop-up and then since a mounth or so it became even worse. Now the pop-up deselect the cursor if I am typing manually making me reach my mouse and click again in order to finish typing. Worst if you are typing a password, in that case most of the time you cannot see when it deselected the field and what character of your password are missing. More annoying is even that when the popup with the 6-digits pops up, it does not select automatically the field in which you need to write the numbers and when you select the fiel most of the time it is wrongly selected making you skip the first number and restartig the whole problem from the beginning. At least if you pretend me to insert the 6 digits (understandable maybe for security) make it seemless, not a pain. I resorted to relearning all my password by memory just because it takes some time 5 second to fill the pop up, some times 10 seconds. While I am working, even if it is a long process i want it to be consistent, this is just annoying.
it works, ish. Annoying to use and everything ugly and clunky but atleast i can sync passwords between my mac and windows PC.
It doesn't really work and its very confusing.
It was not working - just popping up ALL the time.
This is more a question for the Devs than anything else... How come this isn't avalible on the Mac? If you had it on Mac we could use the Keychain in Chrome (there is a use case for this...)
Shame it's not available on Mac
Doesnt work
No passwords synced. ZERO
DOES NOT WORK ON MAC. Seriously, why doesn't it work on Mac? I just want to use iCloud Keychain on Chrome on my Mac...
This is typical Apple and will be one of the reasons I am distancing myself from their devices more and more, it does NOT work on Mac, Apple is holding Mac users hostage in to use Safari. I use a Mac and often use Chrome (Chromium) because I use Google Workspace and Chromium's better extension library. I ended up installing a third-party password manager and deactivated iCloud Keychain everywhere. Shame on you Apple.
Lots of sites online indicated this would work with a Chromebook/ChromeOS. Only works on Windows so this makes it severely lacking in my opinion.
I'm not going to do a two step login process three times a day to link passwords. Trash extension.
It's a password inputer, not a password manager. I've been trying to phase out my reliance on Google products as I'm just generally getting sick of them canceling products I use and their behavior in general. Was hoping I could switch off their manager and use Keychain but it's not remotely viable. Yeah, it can save and input passwords on a website but that's it. I can't review anything in chrome on the Windows iCloud extension, or really do anything other then go to a website and then use a save/use a password. Chrome's password manager is pretty bare bones but it's feature rich compared to iCloud and Keychain, very disappointed here and guess I'm stuck with Chromes password manager for the foreseeable future.
Added it to Brave (chrome extensions work with Brave). Every time I click the icon, it just wants me to download the iCloud app. I already did before I even installed the extension. I don't get it. It lets me sign in on chrome, but I don't use chrome. Also it turns off my nvidia instant replay every time I launch it on chrome. I don't want it to do that. Terrible app, needs a lot of work to even be considered usable.
Need fix, it required enter 2FA everytime when visiting every web !!
Meh. The popup from the system tray is enormous and ugly. Worse, it pops up every time the extension senses a password field. Then it pops down, then it pops up again. Absolutely obnoxious. Can we please have an option to disable the OTP popup until we click the Chrome extension?
No support for Linux.
I really wanted to use this because I'm already using iCloud for windows, and I kinda trust Apple over most other password keychain things. However, it seems to not work in half of the sites I use, and whenever it decides to work, it generates a new 2FA code EVERY TIME I select ANY field in a new registration or login form. Furthermore, once I finally manage to get the code in (because I can't even see it from how fast it generates a new one), it starts doing the exact same for every field, except now it asks me if I want to save the password or not, even if I already hit "never for this site"; it's like it forgets the setting every time I refresh the site. To make things worse, it also shows the pop-up whenever I use a SSO website, taking up screen space that shouldn't even be used at the time. If it's fixed, I'll definitely use it, just not in the current state.
The best app out there for iOS users to get the stored password on the chrome on any Windows or Mac, just amazing.
Incredibly annoying that it requires a code to be entered every single time you go to a website and it wants to pull a password.
I give it a 4/5 stars only because it doesn't have the feature to generate passwords inside the password field like the Chrome Password Manager. I was an avid user of this feature and I find it counterintuitive having to go to a password generator website every time. I hope this can be a feature brought to the extension. I would easily change my rating to 5/5!
"Download iCloud for Windows to use iCloud Passwords." Can't get past this, regardless how many times I install and uninstall iCloud for Windows or the extension itself.
Total garbage It does nothing except break logins. It doesnt allow you to see or use your passwords.
It was working perfectly fine for months, all of a sudden after an update, now I just get a white square when clicking it with no options to select. So annoying,
Does not work on Mac so one star. Apple has to choose to either make sure Safari can be used with all web applications or offer a way to integrate Chrome better with MacOS. Don't lecture me about the Safari compatibility being a problem of the websites in question, because Webkit problems especially with WebRTC are well-known.
"iCloud Passwords only works in Chrome on computers that have iCloud for Windows. It does not work in Chrome on a Mac." Shame on you Apple
Its okay however improvements could be made like actually being able to save passwords on edge but nope because of icloud passwords
Helps me keep my pwds updated between chrome on my pc and my iphone 12 mini
Doesn't support macOS, meaning there is absolutely no way to autofill my iCloud passwords in Chrome on macOS. Apple - if you think this is going to make me want to use Safari, think again.
The extension prompts for a code incessantly and is annoying and obtrusive it should only require verification once every hour or so depending on what the user would like. Also the ability to manage I cloud passwords within a web page would be greatly appreciated.
Doesn't work on Mac OS; wants me to use icloud keychain and safari. Well, some websites don't work well with Safari and sometimes I need to use Chrome on Mac. Apparently, paying thousands of dollars is not enough, they have to also force browser choice.
I only get: Download iCloud for Windows. Sigh, it's already installed, specifically the Microsoft iCloud app from the app store.
Honestly, I would expect Apple to make it work on Macs. I sue Safari on my Mac, no problem. I hate Chrome. But on the other hand, there are lots of websites in Brazil that won't work on Safari, and for those it would be very handy to use the iCloud Passwords on the mac. Apple, please, stop being US centric and pretend we can live with only Safari. We can't. Give us the means.
Asks for entering 6-digit password every time I open up chrome. The passwords aren't really getting synced. I wish it was a "great" extension, but it isn't doing any good for your workflows.
there is no functionality on macOS, which is a bummer for people who use Chrome on macOS, as Chrome does not have access to macOS's built-in Keychain feature. I don't see why they didn't think to implement this. And for those of you who say it's not that hard to just transfer all of your passwords over, it is. Personally, I have hundreds, if not thousands of passwords in Keychain.
iCloud Pop Up security code is visible to anyone accessing your computer without your consent. Effectively granting anyone accessing the computer at random access to every BANK, SOCIAL SECURITY OR MEDICAL etc. information one has secured behind site passwords. Easily rectifiable by instead using an iCloud app PASSCODE known only to the authorized account owner which would be requested in security prompt. (just like with an iDevice passcode)
Something must be wrong with the extension and iCloud for Windows versions because they're not talking to each other. I have 1 PC that installed the Chrome extension and iCloud from the Microsoft store in early September and that one works. Trying to install both on a new computer and now the extension constantly says "Enable Passwords in iCloud for Windows to use iCloud Passwords with Chrome."
Have been using it for the last few months and I can't recall having any trouble at all. Really handy for iOS users.
Had it downloaded for a while, now it doesn't work. After resetting my pc, and reinstalling my apps, it just stays gray, and doesn't detect the icloud app on pc. Until this is fixed, im going to move to another password manager.
Doesn't work with MacOS...
Keeps asking for validation code
can't use in Chrome on Mac
always popup in mac 在mac上老是弹框 I use the extension in PC and Mac. When I use it in my mac, it will badly popup a dialog.
Installed on Chrome ok. iCloud For Windows still asks me to 'Install Extension' for Chrome, a week after installing the iCloud Passwords app...? I'm sure the whole idea is to sync passwords from Chrome with passwords on iDevices, but the simple problem I've encountered is that when the pop-up appears, asking you to enter the 6-digit code into the app/extension (presumably triggered by a web page with log-in credentials) I've since already logged-in, so the extension states 'No log-in details to save'... Can't be bothered, so am going to uninstall.
Like others already said: The extension doesn't work. It only says "Download iCloud for Windows". OR you will see two empty labels and 6 input boxes.
Doesn't work, pops up obnoxious pop-ups saying "enter this code into the extension" EVERY TIME you try to log on ANYWHERE.
Either make it work on Chrome for Mac, or stop nagging me in Chrome for Mac
