I liked this until I discovered that, in my Linux system, it delayed the opening of Chrome by 5 seconds!
Does not work.
If you only want to remove delay between the moment when you click Chrome's icon and the moment when it opens a new window, then you may simply make Chrome continue running even after all its windows are closed. This can be done using the “Background Process” extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/background-process/gghpjpjkgffajicbeidilgkogpmianag
Not working on 48.0.2564.109. :(
Doesn't work in 34.0.1847.131.
does not work at all
Does not work
Okay ! this extension definitely works and it works great. The only condition is: You must not have unchecked "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed" I'm running Chrome Version 26.0.1410.63 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I found this one works even better than others.
not working..
It remains in memory which will make me uninstall it. But I suppose it does the job.
I feel this is the best workaround to the last tab problem. Still obviously not a perfect fix though as the creation of a new tab is not seamless. It's about time the chromium developers (actually I'm not even sure who develops what with this), but someone needs to add this as a hard-coded feature. I've just come from Opera, and I can not live without this functionality along side speed dial.
Ah, doesn't work unless Chrome is set to remain in background. Should have said that somewhere, perhaps?
Doesn't work for me on the latest Chrome version. Closing last tab on a settings / chrome page will also cause Chrome to crash.
It works and I'll give 5 stars if window size state stops changing after closing last tab. My window is always normal so I get a maximized new tab window when I close last tab. Don't like :\.
Nice one! One thing, is it possible to have it always start with a switch? Like '--allow-file-access-from-files' for example?
it doesnt work on mac mountain lion chrome v23
I used to use Last Tab Standing, but that one doesn't work if the last tab is a Chrome tab (like the settings page, etc). Last Tab Keepalive doesn't inject any script, so it will work even on the settings page or another blank tab. Perfect! Works like a charm.
It doesn't work on Chrome 21.x
