Not terrible impressed with the extension... Furthermore, I get different readings between the Crome extension, a web browser, the app for my OS and the app for my iOS (regardless of device, at the same time and specs).
Useless, It only shows my ping which is around 70 but when it's testing the download speed it shows 0 always. then connection lost. On the websites works fine so the problem is with the extension not my connection

Works great! Just like the normal site. For those of you complaining it doesn't make your computer faster try downloading some more ram instead.
I hate this this is show not real speed I have 4 Mbps But this is showing me 13 to 15 Mbps speed, I am cheak it from download any file they show only 200 400 kbs Hated Speedtest.
I get a (much) slower speed reading from the extension than from speedtest.net
i like it however upgrades needed!! how about it making the pc a bit faster and less of the login and terms of us often when resetting setting. nonetheless its good.

Mm, it won't do the test, it just gets the ping and then it immediately gives the me message "Connection lost", you could argue the problem is my connection then, but if I try doing the test from the website, it works just fine, so it's the extension.

This program is awesome! I won an argument with my ISP, regarding "Promised Throughput." It's Free, Light on Resources, Accurate and a Quality Program. Indeed a rare combination! To think, that no matter your Operating System, there is a Version for you. Imagine the process of making that happen? The "Extension" is incredible! Ookla, I thank you! P.S. I've read a great deal of the comments left and I believe that the majority of less than flattering reviews are left by those that don't truly understand how many "Variables" are involved in obtaining their "Connection Speed." Most of the complaints, directed at Ookla, include variables that have nothing to do with the "Speed Test" program at all?! It's hard to understand how so many seemingly ignorant people feel free to complain about a Free and Accurate program?!

When I installed this it worked only for the first time and when I used it afterwards it doesn't work at all. And I don't know why it is not working for my websites! And it is also giving that your internet connection is lost.

It is a False Extension. Not working properly. I hate it.
well, the direct website version of it is really nice, but the extension just has some slight bugs here and there. for example when i use the direct website version of it, it says i have around 8 MBPS download speed and 2 MBPS upload speed (dont make fun of my labtop), but when i go and use the extension, it says i have 61,779.6 MBPS download speed, and 0 MBPS upload speed. also, each time i close out the extension, it logs me out of my account, so thats a small negative too. other than that it seems really fine.

This didn't happen with this extension but it did happen with Ookla's speedtest iPhone app. I installed it to see that there is also a vpn so i turned it on, a VPNConfiguration thing popped up and i clicked ok. Over the next few months my mobile data wasn't working which i pay for unlimited data, i would just have no internet. One day i decided to look into it and realize the app downloaded a profile onto my phone which can control and see everything on my phone. I removed it and i now had internet. DO NOT use Ookla this is a scam. To prove this when u download this extension it says that it can view and change ALL data on EVERY site you visit.
Every-time I log in it logs me back out. It should remember me so I don't have to keep logging in.
The results look pretty accurate. But it reads all user activity! And it's huge in size compared with all the other options.

This extension makes it easier to measure my internet speed, and seems to be reliable most of the time. I would give it four or five stars, but whenever it's doing the download part of the speed test, it will distort any audio I am listening to and make it sound glitched, which is really annoying. Other than that, this extension is great :)
I also have a feeling that the speed test is biased. It told me that I had 272.74 mbps for download WHICH IS MILES AWAY FROM MY ACTUAL INTERNET SPEED (150mbps)
It is really good, It saves alot of time, With the Extension I do not have to open another tab, All I have to do is click on the icon and I will be able to use it, 10/10 Recommended, It helps alot to check what my Ping is at -A PC Gamer

I tried this extension on two computers and it failed to work in both. Even after several attempts it keeps coming up with the error that it disconnects. The stand along app is great for both windows and android. But this extension is useless. Very dissapointing.

Worked perfectly for 2 days but after that it just shows "Connecting" and than shows "Internet Connection Lost", Whereas the connection is very much active, Although it shows the Web Speed time but not the Internet speed, I have deleted and installed the extension many times but it shows the same error, Ookla please get it right at the earliest.

The extension was working perfectly in Chrome and in the new Edge browser but ever since the Windows 2004 update all I get is a [Internet Connection Lost] [OK] So I'm not sure what this problem is related to but it is very disappointing. It still works via the website however it takes a few seconds to start. It used to start immediately but now it can take up to 15 seconds to start measuring.
After i click the go button and does what it does, it says ''No internet Connection" ive tried reinstalling the app and it say the same thing?!?
It does not with any of my android devices at this time. I feel that this has to do with the app associated to the Chrome browser and not the stand alone app. The stand alone app on my iPhone 10XR is still working for now.

speedtest.net is 100% fake because I have 3Mbps line but speedtest.net show me 5Mbps its a not the first time I have seen many times. speedtest.net is 100% fake and speedtest.net connected to our ISP.

goog I have protanopia and this helps distinguish the colours, particularly useful for RAGed data reports. You do get to set the colour clontrast levels, it's very easy to set up
My internet speed 2mbps, but showing 85-90mbps. Not helpful and not recommended.
The test results are either fake or heavily biased. I get about 80Mbps tx/rx, when in fact the speed is 60Mbps tx / 20Mbps rx account to other speed tests. Worse, when the actual speed was obviously slow (it took from 20 seconds to minutes to load ANY website including www.speedtest.net, and other speed tests measured about 64-120Kbps), somehow I got the same readings: about 80Mbps tx/rx. I don't know what this speed test tool is actually measuring, but it is useless.

This extension for Chrome works extremely well for me. It gets 5 stars form me. I am running 350mbps, or there abuots on average. It has a quick response, great as far as I think.
It doesn't seem to work at all with VPN... a shame as I use it often on iOS as an app with no issue. The Mac OS desktop app also doesn't work with VPN.
Works very well. Better than any I've seen and doesn't interfere with computer/browser. I advise for download highly.

Makes you log in each time to access your account. Requires unnecessary access to personal data. No advantage to using web page. App worse than useless.
After I click "GO" nothing happens. What's going on? Need to take test for pre-employment testing. I'm using Chrome.

One of very few extensions that ACTUALLY WORK.
Haven't even used it on Chrome. Used "leslie" for years. Anyway, Ozark Go in Northwest Arkansas is selling me 1 gig down for $79 and will sell 500 Mbps for $49. Issue is I'm getting at best so far just over 500 down until storm last week and now it is hoovering around 10 Mbps down. The first thing I was going to do is tell them to change my plan to the $49 one and see how much I got down. Then the storm hit and boom most i have gotten is just under 200 Mbps down and sometimes early in the morning (like now) I get only 10 down with regular loss of signal. I am on the extreme end of the roll out next to a lake and the company is new to fiber. I guess I should try to get the "right tech" out here. Thanks in advance. Ed

It was quite accurate.
As per "Normal", unless you understand, NBN, WiFi, etc.. running this app will give you incorrect answers.. As a 59 yr old computer nerd.. its the best out there.. if on windows 10, grab the the standalone app, that installs on windows.. it doesnt test wifi speed.. it test from your Router.. to your online isp speed.. wifi slow? get a better router.. have an iphone? chuck it in the bin, they have slow wifi.. so you have to use your phone providers, 3G/4G.. they get a kick back.. my Samsung S7 does all that the new iphone 10 does..

It seems it does not show the real speeds of the internet. I'm here in the Philippines. When i try the speed test of Google and this speedtest by ookla. the google reads 5Mbps while ookla reads 60Mbps. but my subscription is only 20Mbps. it seems the ookla is have a problem with their reading. Ookla reading flactuate a lot wile ggogle reading is stable it reads between 5-8 Mbps. That is why i have already ask my provider to fixed my network issue.
I use Speedtest on my Android phone, Android tablet, and Chromebook, and have used it on Windows when I had to run Windows at work. Good product, does what is promises.
