Hi. I'm assuming if you're reading this you're in 1 of 3 groups. 1. You're a student, and you hate it because it blocks stuff, 2. You are a teacher, in the school staff, etc. and you love it, or 3. You are a part of the school administrative team and you are considering choosing this app to install on your student's devices or your network. Just to open up, I am a student. I will probably say some biased things, but I hope you consider my point at the very least. First, I think Blocksi does an excellent job at monitoring classroom activity and giving teachers the ability to see what their students are doing in class time or during open periods. It also gives school authority the ability to track inappropriate sites and cyberbullying. This is AMAZING!!!! I will touch on why I rated it 2 stars in a second, but Blocksi does a great job keeping students on task and in line. But, there are a few major problems. Problem number 1. This is probably the most important problem, but if your school uses Blocksi, AND your school has a WIFI network, then Blocksi can view ANY device that you connect to the network. Yes, this includes students' phones. (And maybe staff too.) Problem number 2. If you have a school computer, Blocksi will track and monitor everything you do on other accounts, not just your school account. And number 3. Blocksi still monitors you over the summer and during out-of-school hours. All of these reasons are very privacy touchy, and I think it is self-explanatory why some students may feel uncomfortable with this extension installed. So in conclusion, I would not recommend this extension. There are better ways of monitoring your students, and if you don't trust your students with a device, then why did you give them one in the first place?

I love this extension for helping me enforce my internet rules, but there's an issue on the curfew feature that unchecks the boxes on it's own every other day or so. If you can update this and fix it I will update this to 5 stars,

I hate this extension because it blocked basically everything on my school chromebook, which I understand for school hours but during the summer and after school hours? Horrible. However, this site can be beneficial if you are using it on your home computer because you could use it to block malicious websites, but malwarebytes, bitdefender, and so many other antiviruses could do the same thing, so this extension is pretty horrible.

this really sucks you cant add your people who to control and that its literally useless big scam it will track ur phone number and gmail just don't get it its horrible.

Fix the dam. issue with youtube embedded videos. The problem is has been there for a very long time. All embedded youtube videos do not load.

Hello, This review is coming from a student, I personally believe that blocksi is unnecessary. If you would like to stalk what your student are doing on their devices then yes it works well! If your the person who like invading privacy, works like a charm! Ok now let me be completely honest, From my knowledge if you are using a school chromebook with a school email and blocksi is being used during school hours, I believe its fine because The chromebook isn't yours neither the account. Now this would be the case if blocksi didn't access your other accounts on your own device as-well. From what I know teacher can see what you are doing on your other accounts that the blocksi extension isn't even on. Now if this is true, this is a complete invasion of privacy, the school can see my medical information, my credit cards, etc. This is illegal and an invasion of privacy. Now without the invasion of privacy their is still a huge problem. It blocks many use-full data sights which are provided by teachers. If these to problems are fixed than maybe its possibly ok to use this extension, but with a policy. 1. Teachers can only monitor the school account during SCHOOL HOURS. 2. The important blocked stuff gets unblocked. But overall this extension is not a good purchase I respectfully disagree with its policy.

Humble Request to Developer. Please make it available on Microsoft Addons also. I am using this on Edge. I tried to make it force install but if I do so then the Extension will not be updated automatically (as it is from Chrome WebStore). Please make it available on Microsoft Addons and keep updating it as regularly as Chrome WebStore. I really like the extension.

I just tried 15 chrome extensions (no joke) to block porn, and only this one and a9 web protection actually worked. This is really good. Great feature set, great blocking. Nice job.

I can't block keywords and phrases on sites like reddit. It works everywhere else just on reddit. I put in the keywords in the search and stuff still pops up on the page even when the words are in the URL. I want to know if i can make it compatible with reddit also.

i mean better than enerprise edition...

I HATE BLOCKSI! It blocks everything and for schools and kids this is extra unnecessary protection. All blocksi does is block everything and make you stop using your computer. I have to review this on my own computer and not my school chromebook because it won't even let me review them. Can you believe that blocksi blocks you from reviewing their site!? It's ironic. Also blocksi is an invasion of privacy. The administrator who installed blocksi can track you and see what your doing. The people who made blocksi need to be arrested immediately. I gave this 1 star. So the moral: Blocksi is a piece of junk that takes the fun of having a computer. I cannot watch youtube, use google, or use educational sites. Blocksi is a crime literally. Never install blocksi, it sucks.

Best extension for childs

I like it very much, but it's not perfect. I wish the content blocker would allow me add a list of words to it that would block content on sites like Reddit and Twitter, or would at least allow me to block specific pages of such sites.

This app is awful. I told my parents about this and how my school used it to spy on me whenever I'm on my Chromebook and block my entertainment, and now they use it. If there was an option to rate it 0 stars, I would give it the hate it deserves in a heartbeat. This is by far one of the worst apps I've seen.

It Blocks Gmail.com, Error : The requested URL /gmail/?safe=active was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

Terrible. Does nothing to keep students off games, nor does it accurately execute instructions. By the way, about a week ago this rating was 1.4. Search up dingtalk and the students that got it taken down from the app store.

if there was one word to describe my sleep paralysis demon it would be "blocksi," now that this exists ill b crying myself to sleep tyvm.

Web filter options never appear just the ability to allow or block a site by clicking on the extension button, uninstalling.

I tried know porn websites, and this filter does not work. It did not block anything. TinyFilter works better.

YouTube Content Filter feature was awesome but now can't use it because it is available in only premium version.

Easy to install works like a charm. I absolutely love it I can even block all proxy sites which are used to bypass web sites that are blocked like facebook. I can hide it in the menu and put in a password, fnnn awesome... :) it has a fault, even though I can put a password on it to stop unauthorized access it can be easily uninstalled with no password prompt, it just uninstalls all my hard work.

I wish i could have this on my children's kindle. It is the best i have used but i needed one that did multiple devices

I tried many, many parent control app/extension. I've known this Blocksi since some years ago. Earlier version was very complicated to set up. Current version is much simpler it offers "URL Filter", "Content Filter", even "Youtube Channel Filter", and even "Access Time" control. This has been the best parent control tool in all the tools I have used.

God...So I don't know if it was a latest update but I had reset my computer after not realizing that the bloksi extension had "Safesearch" on. (You can disable it in settings, but bloksi re-enables it automatically) I was worried for weeks about it. >_> Turned it off now at least. Other than that it's pretty useful

It is grate I love it I highly remand this to parents and teacher. this is a really good system I love it that I use this then other blocking system is a gate system with a filter and blocking ability is awesome. I really remand this!

That's a top-notch parenting tool out there! But kids are getting smart too! They simply disable the extension when parents aren't around and take the joyride. Could you make it such that disabling the extension will require password authentication? And please bring the same functionalities for Firefox and Microsft Edge. Waiting eagerly!

I tried to install it. Clicked a few buttons, then it said "Your domain is already registered.", which doesn't make any sense to me, and nothing else happened. Pretty much useless. No thanks.

UPDATE 2: reinstalled it and time blocker now works somewhat reliably. I like this extension, using it to replace my beloved K9 filter which does not work for Ubuntu but I miss few abilities 1) ability to block @ at more flexible intervalls vs full hour only eg 1.30-2.30 vs 1.00-2.00 2) ability to unblock specific websites for limited amount of time ie "unblock website x for 15 minutes"

An excellent, easy to use cross-platform/cross browser filter.

I added this extension for my son's managed supervised user account to protect him from web browsing. The extension will work under the "Owner" user however it will not work on my sons supervised user account. What is the point of this if I cannot do that. I will be removing it

I tested several pages of phishing, malware, and SPAM URLs, while only 1 warning were issued. The filters did seem to work for a few other things though. Please add a "report" button so after it has been reported it can be reviewed and taken care of

The elaborate settings page fools you into thinking you have control. Not so! The first thing it blocked was Google Sheets and w/o any explanation as to why. At least an explanation would let me tweak the settings to allow me to work on a spreadsheet. Sure, I could whitelist it, but how many sites will I have to do that for? I don't care to stick around long enough to find out.

I wrote the Captain Riptide review under my son's browser login after trying for over 3 hours to: 1. Get the extension to install manually on a home, non-domain-joined computer with Chrome policies: https://www.chromium.org/administrators 2. Setup and log into the Blocksi account to see if this reinstall the extension if removed and keep the settings. Both have been a major fail and I've been working in MS Windows desktops and servers for over 20 years as various levels of top-tiered support. This is ludicrous and maddening!!!! I will hope to talk to Blocksi support and get an understanding of their account creation / login and see if this can even work on Chrome for Window as advertised (somewhat).

I want to cancel my account and a refund from your product. Not a good enough product for regular Chrome Browsers nor for kids that use existing gmail accounts in their browsers. To control the extension from not getting removed or disabled, you need to use a blocksi account on a Chromebook. Not practical for just Chrome on Windows 10 for a teenager who has their own login on a computer. Refund!!!

This app is bad when it comes to bringing it back up for chrome "free version" to make changes. It worked really well setting up filter etc. Though you say its free for Chrome, there is no way to bring it back up to make changes....this is why I give it 1 star...it appears to non reusable. Note: Not everyone makes the perfect setting the first time around. I will not recommend this to anyone till they honor there agreement for a free app.

Does the job and pretty simple to use. The kid can disable it without a password if he figures it out, but it's an extension, not an antivirus; ease of access is to be expected.

Don't waste your time or money. The free extension can be turned off without a password, so your child can disable it if they know it's there (which they will because it's obvious when you try to access a restricted site what's going on). Definitely DO NOT pay for the Home Manager. You have to set up a restricted user on the Chromebook, but Chromebooks do not all restricted users to have extensions--without the Blocksi extension the application doesn't work. Documentation is sketchy--two youtube videos with no sound, just pictures of tropic vacations and text. No apparent way to cancel your membership in the application. All around, this is a terrible user experience.

Great web filter--does the job well, however any child could figure out how to disable it in extensions (simply un-click the "allow in incognito" box) and voila, it no longer works in incognito.

Very simple and does a very effective job blocking the sites you want.

I've recently diagnosed that this extension conflicts with Google Maps, by causing a constant refresh of the page. It also just started to prevent loading of the google main page in safe search mode. Please fix these glitches, This is a great extension otherwise.

Blocksi is exactly what i was looking for. I have 120 Chromebooks for a study, and needed to block websites across all of them logged into the same Google account. Blocksi syncs the data across the devices, so I can make a change on one device, and it blocks or allows the site across them all. The password functionality is great, all other extensions did not have this, and all the other extensions do not sync data across devices. I was almost about to give up until I came across this extension. I do wish I could block ALL sites except for a whitelist, but I can add them manually as necessary for now.

Useless! Even when fully configured, anyone can just remove from extensions with one click, No password required. Really, really stupid oversite by developers.

Does the job perfectly! Unfortunately it can be toggled on/off so easily a child can do it & w/ 'incognito' leaves no parental control. Fix this by adding an 'enforce' option & it gets a 5+ star rating...As is it's disappointing!

At least it's better than nothing -- sad to see Google couldn't step up to do anything better. After all OSX and Windows 7 run circles in warp speed around CHromebook "parental controls". MAJOR ISSUE - it also blocks the supervisor login. THere needs to be a flag to say NOT to apply to supervisor user.
