It works. However, there are two other extensions with more features, or/and a different working mechanic what makes it possible to show a screenshot of the suspended tab without loading it (and waiting for it) again.

This is the way my dudes. Trust. Been using this extension since it was just a github fork of the original Great Discarder with the life-changing "discard all tabs on startup" option added. Beyond stoked to see if now on the chrome web store. Just download it already!

This is the greater extension after discard the suspender, UI wise is hard to know when you have a tabs unloaded, but well you get use to that quickly the important key of this extension is to keep chrome a bit less hungry and consume less RAM
One of the most useful extension to save memory !
