Works well but there's a minor problem with Prime Video where the screenshot icon is still there in the final picture. Must be something with how Prime Video itself is coded as I don't experience this on other websites.

Love the extension but after coming back from a long trip its no longer working on Netflix. If anyone knows maybe how to fix it it'd be greatly appreciated.

Love how easy it is to use but sometimes it shows under playercontrols thus not clickable e.g on Emby. also would be very useful if it can burn subtitles on the image. Maybe later on add the option to capture an html element. Otherwise it is the best yet.

Been using it forever. I scoured the extensions to find a tool like this, and I was not disappointed. Once you get a handle on how it behaves in relation to videos, it is very powerful. I've saved about 2.5k Screengrabs to use as a Slideshow of Desktop Wallpapers since I started using this app, and it makes previously attempted methods look infantile. (And the slideshow brings me much joy.) 1. Set the video quality, it determines the resolution of the screenshot. Different sources can have different resolutions, and sometimes 1080 is far from the maximum size. From 1920x1400 to 2844x1600, the ceiling is vast. 2. For best results, screenshot in fullscreen. Failing to do this can [rarely but] sometimes result in capturing the whole page. 3. Be selective of which site you take screenshots on; some sites will burn a watermark onto the videos they host. If this doesn't bother you, then fine, but trying to doctor a picture, to remove watermarks by hand, can get old quickly. 4. If the extension seems to be unresponsive, verify the stream URL the video is using (since it can often vary from the hosting website) and add it to the approved permissions list in the extension settings. (The Chrome Developer tool can help you look at where the video player is sourcing the video). 5. While in the settings, set up a keyboard shortcut to avoid pause/playing when unintended. The site I frequent for anime has the advantage of letting me move the video by single frames with the ',' and '.' keys and doesn't imprint watermarks, but there is already a superimposed button (for changing the video stream source) in the same spot as the Video Screenshot button. To avoid complications, the keyboard shortcut is unbeatable. 6. Also, while trying to set a specific save location can seem handy, it can complicate things. I have had much more success with selecting the 'ask every time' option in chrome, and simply making a shortcut to the desired location in the left-hand navigation panel of the Windows Explorer Save As screen that appears when choosing a name for the screenshot. 7. Check the image that was saved, and try more than once. Hiccups can happen. From the screen being clipped short, to the video elements (pause/play, duration bar, hovering icons, etc.) being captured as well, and as mentioned previously whole pages being captured. Refresh the video, the page, verify settings and permissions, and try again. It can be frustrating taking several and finding that the size is diminished, or the progress bar is stamped on the bottom, but a pinch of attention can be an ounce of prevention, or.. something like that? Heh.. I hope these tips helped someone. If you're looking for a no-frills extension to get screenshots quickly and effectively, look no further.

Great work, but I'm having trouble with using this on Crunchyroll. The on screen control layer seems to be above the screenshot button, so when I go to click it to take a screenshot I only pause the video.

Works really well, the one problem is that it stopped working on incognito mode for me, it just says "Error: failed to download"

Perfect screenshot app. An icon will pop up on just about video player and will give you a quality image almost every time.

Amazing extension. Works on every video player I usually use. I didn't even think somebody would make such a useful app. Wish you could record the section of the video but that's much to ask I think.

Since 5.2 it conflicts with some other extensions (like "Save In..."), screenshot filename will be something like c928e8e9-4bdc-4eb3-a184-a0f455b62210.jpg

This is a great tool that is easy to use. The only thing that would make it better would be the ability to include subtitles in the screen grab so i can more easily make memes.

Awesome, but the always-on camera icon is a distraction. I'd love the option to turn it off, or if it became invisible after a second or two of inactivity like most video controls nowadays. As it is, I currently keep the extension disabled, and enable it only when I want to use it.

This is generally really convenient, but annoying that it keeps generating dev console errors “DevTools failed to load source map: Could not load content for chrome-extension://ppkojackhibeogijphhfnamhemklmial/js/page.js.map: System error: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT”

Really good! but it does needs to be updated due to constant changes and updates by companies.

Doesn't work on Netflix anymore

I love it and it works so well on Netflix, but recently (last month or so) on Amazon Prime (Canada) it doesn't. It just creates a copy of the current image screenshotted, aligned to the left of the screen, and then doesn't save or anything. I have to completely close the tab and re-open Amazon Prime to be able watch what I was watching and get the controls back. I've adjusted settings in both Chrome (download location, prompt to download etc) and the extension (changing between save as jpg or png or save to clipboard) and nothing fixes it.

Love this extension. Works for on every video and not just on the most popular streaming sites.

Can't use the camera button for Crunchyroll but it works if you set up a keyboard shortcut.

An exquisite memer's tool, best enjoyed ethically. Recommendations: 1) Remove top and bottom black space from screenshot. I don't know why they're there. 2) If possible, give the option to obfuscate metadata. For the Netflix meme ingredients I manually set all dates and timezones to a silly future date, habit of caution. No, I don't use this tool for where's and was very careful to avoid blatant spoiler scenes. 3) Add support for Apple TV website

This is so good! Now I can screenshot on my favorite places, I just wish when I did the screenshot would have the subtitles too. That's the only reason for 4 stars, but besides that, this is VERY good!

Super easy to use and just what i was looking for!

Well, it seems to have stopped working. clicking on the icon or even hitting Ctrl-U just brings up the settings, which is too bad as this was a great thing to have.

I love this extension, but since Netflix updated their player, it does not works anymore. As of 05/11/2021, the Video Screenshotter player is broken when I try to use it on Netflix player, the image just resizes down and the video freezes without even prompting a download screen prompt, in other words, it is not working on Netflix, and I hope this get patched soon. I will not give 0 stars because of this but I hope it gets updated soon. I would also like to see if in the near future a function may be implanted to save screenshots in .tif/.tiff, I would love it!

Doesn't work.

I've been looking for an extension that 1) captures just the video frame, without subtitles or playbar, 2) has the option of saving the screenshot to the clipboard, and 3) has configurable keyboard shortcut. This is the only one that I found that does all 3. When it works it works great, but I've been also having some problems. Namely, the setting for saving to clipboard randomly resets and sometimes doesn't work at all (zoro.to player). Also, I wish there was an option to remove the camera icon.

Hello, I've seen the recent comments left and I just wanted to report that, as of 10/12/2021, this is still not working on Netflix for me. I do see it on youtube and other video player apps though. It could be the Netflix is tracking and blocking this extension now. I hope that it does get updated and fixed soon though.

Hi I added the extention but it's not working, I don't see the camera option in netflix window. but i can see it in chrome bar.

I love how convenient this is and so far it's worked like a charm. However all three save options, including PNG and copy to clipboard, apply severe JPEG compression to the image, and I can't figure out how to turn that off. If there's an option I've missed or if I've just messed something up then I apologize, but the inability to save uncompressed screenshots is a kind of a deal breaker for me. I'm not sure why the PNG option exists if all it does is save a JPEG as a PNG file.

I really like this extension. But today Oct 6, 2021 this extension not working anymore. When I click the button, it's nothing happen. I don't know is it just temporary error? If you can fix the problem. It will be great.

Works great... When it actually works. Some Youtube videos just won't download no matter what I do. If I don't see the bars on the AV window do anything, that means it won't download. Pretty annoying that it randomly doesn't work. The screenshot part seems to work fine on pretty much every site though. So if you need hat function this is probably great.

I enjoy this workaround for backgrounds I like to save from shows, but I guess it doesn't pick up closed captioning? :)

Worked just fine for what I needed! Simple and easy. Disrupts the video while the download happens in an automatic folder so it's easy to take a consecutive batch of screenshots inbetween few frames.

Does what it says on the tin, a good workaround for the screenshot blocking that almost every streaming service employs these days. Took off two stars because there's no subtitle support. This makes it unsuitable for the biggest reason I'd want to take a screenshot on Hulu/Netflix, which is to point out something funny in the dialogue. Would love to see subtitle support added in a future update.

It was fantastic... until for some reason the camera icon just vanished. No longer shows up on Youtube or anything despite still being installed and registered as active.

After the latest Netflix update the screenshot icon isn't showing up on the screen anymore. The shortcut isn't working either. Please fix! Otherwise really great extension, made my life easier.

Thank you!! :-D For anyone having trouble finding the settings, it might be hidden under the Chrome Extensions dropdown (Looks like a jigsaw piece, to the right of the search bar. Then find the camera icon in that list). To the developer, it'd be awesome if the files could be auto-named based on the video title. Do you think that might be a possible feature one day? Tried to use it to capture Netflix and it just showed a black screen. Extension DOES NOT WORK

It can capture screenshots at its native resolutions as well. It's great! However, the only downside is when taking a screenshot on Netflix, it doesn't include the subtitles. Please make an option where the subtitles are included. Thank you.

I wish you can make the extension for EDGE because the only browser that can play netflix in 1080p is only edge while chrome only 720p maximum resolution. It actually can be installed in edge but it seems doesn't work and the result is black screen. Please make it compatible to microsoft edge.
