After using several different blocking extensions for Chrome, finally landed on a good one. It does what you want, and doesn't try to upsell you. Simple. Thank you.

After trying other, ad-ridden blockers, I am grateful to have found Simple Blocker. I'm trying to use less social media, and this tool's simplicity and clear UI make this straightforward. Plus, trying to open up social media and seeing a big "THIS PAGE HAS BEEN BLOCKED" badge gives me juuuuuust enough shame in public spaces to nudge me away from websites I don't want to see. Thank you, dev - never change!

It's good and does what it says. I personally could use an option to let me know when the timer has ended, like the tab it's on shaking or something.

It works exactly as advertised - you enter the sites you want it to block then you turn it on and it blocks them. And that earns it 5 stars from me. P.S. I'm using the latest version of Google Chrome as of this writing (version 108.0.5359.72 to be exact).

Doesn't work at all- not on the potentially malicious site I wanted to block nor the innocuous ones I used to test further.

No annoying pop-ups

We needed a blocker to just block the extensions page when our other blocker fails sometimes. Countless weeks of pain, hurt, and searching for answers. We found nothing. Chrome actively makes the extensions page unblockable. So thank you. We hope this works

its really good and easy especially the option on and off can be contacted easily. though instead of timer sleep please have the option to turn it on automatically in the timer of 10 min,etc. after switching it off and please make it able that a password box appears in the relevant blocked site so it can be temporally turned off easily

As the name says "simple". But also effective. And it's also not overly intrusive (it requests browsing history which is required, but it doesn't request data from sites (unlike other extensions... I'm looking at you block site).

Absolutely love this plugin. Have used it in all of my browsers across all of my computers. I keep a text file in my onedrive to cart around the block-list. Wish this was available everywhere! Only a couple Features remain to make this perfect: - Synchronization of Block List across devices. (Perhaps to a shared config folder or embedded in browner) - Allow-list to override the wider block-list. (IE, Allow certain sub-reddits, but deny everything else, or search results mistakenly getting blocked)

Using the blocker with "pinterest.com, pinterest.co.uk" and all the other pinterest sites in the blocker list, I did a google search. It produced MANY pinterest web site finds. So I guess it doesn't work.

It's a excellent app, but in the Chinese context "SB" means "stupid idiot".

to block main reddit page only: ^https://www\.reddit\.com/$ AHHHH I'm SO HAPPY NOW. It blocks the stupid, ad-filled, manipulative, engagement-metric-focused main page without blocking for instance a link from a google result. life +1.

Extremely useful. I had a terrible problem with procrastination and could never get any work done. This really helped me out and was just what I needed. I cannot thank the developer(s) enough for this as it really made me way more productive. Thank you so much for whoever made this extension, you quite literally saved my life.

It's exactly what it says. It blocks a website you put in the list, and the block page is simple and functional. There's even some bonus features like password protection, a timer and even blocking the extensions menu itself. The only thing that would make it better is a keyword blocker but that would be a bonus.

Used to work for me, now there are too many sites printing garbage, it broke your extension. Going to go with something similar, but thanks for all the help you've provided for years now.

why does simple blocker never recall blocked web sites, it used to 100% a few yrs ago, why did you screw it up? as soon as chrome relaunches everything is gone!!!

How do I make it so I can't just change the "main power switch" to off? I let someone else set a password but even without the password I can just keep turning it off

Simple and straightforward. I use it to switch twitter off for blocks of work and it's ideal. I've tried a couple of the cleverer apps like FocusMe and you end up spending more time configuring the thing because it's blocked the wrong stuff than working. Would be nice to perhaps have a simple interface with just the stuff in the top panel and a click-through to more for the fancier stuff, but it doesn't really matter.

Loved it! A simple and direct solution. One extra thing that I would like: to be able to customize the blocked.html page to write a message to myself to remind me that I shouldn't be trying to go to those site in the first place.

this is the best site blocker extension from my experience. It allows you to quickly switch from play mode to work mode without issue, which seems to be an issue with other options(at least for me). Highly recommend, and I don't know why this isn't more visible in the available extensions list. I had it on my one comp and then couldn't find it very easily to get it on my other comps. Had to search it by name.

This is a wonderful and simple app and the only one I've found that allows easy blocking of sub-domains like specific subreddits. It doesn't have nearly the user experience or design of similar extensions but it's the best in terms of functionality that I've found.

Been using this for years. I should have acknowledged Simple Blocker in my Master's thesis or add it to my dissertation for keeping me on track during days that I just don't feel like working.

SImple Blocker is great. It's a switch on the screen and a switch in your mind. I know that I have SB on, and so when I stray from my work and start to open up new tabs, I remember that I can't go there, and redirect myself back to my main task. I saw this morning that SB has only blocked six attempts against my block list so far (I've had the extension for at least a year), but it's stopped me preemptively countless more times. Thanks for this awesome tool!

Tried many others and they were needlessly convoluted. This is straightforward and easy to toggle on and off.

I like it a lot. I do not understand how the timer works or is supposed to work. Is it a time for which the blocking continues? Is it a time you are allowed to watch and then blocking will kick in? I mainly use it to limit the freedom in installing extensions by blocking extensions in the options and by blocking chrome.google.com/webstore in the blocklist. I wonder if there are other ways I can limit the possibility to add extensions.

Normally great ext! But does NOT block Website when i use duckduckgo...for quick local search instead of chrome...maybe Dev-Team can make Re-adjustment.---Than i´ll make upgrade to 5x STARS x*X*

My problem is that I sometimes go to certain websites without even thinking about it. My brain shuts off and goes into procrastination mode. Having Simple Blocker turned on, it jolts me back into reality. If you're someone who goes to certain websites without realizing it and before you know it you've lost 2 hours, this is definitely for you. It's easy to circumvent in cases where you are intentionally going to the site for a specific reason, though there are options to make it harder to circumvent, but I've never needed to use it.

Would be great if you could limit it to certain hours of the day. For example working hours and have it automatically turn off at 6pm for example.

This is totally useless. Why to put a password and create a black list, when everyone, even children can abolish this by pressing right click on the icon of the extension and just press to abolish (remove or disable) ? Can anyone answer me ? Where do you see a 5-star protection ? This is ridiculous. No password prevent it. You should prevent it by the same password.

I use chrome only because of this awesome extension.

It would be a whole lot better if a pop-up showed that a site was blocked, instead, a new tab opens, shows me that it was blocked and I have to close the tab. This is what I would have to do even if there was no blocking.

It wouldn't let me do a google search from the omnibox about the site I blocked. Not acceptable.

This works really well with adult blockers blocking everything for kids because it disables the extension from being removed. heres the only problem..... which is a huge problem, which they should fix! disabling the "reset setting" button in the "setting" would be a smart move because that way smart kids wont be able to deactivate this extension. Get on it and fix it!!!!!!

Does what it needs. Has a random password option, as well as an option to remove the extensions menu (to stop you from accessing the settings while in block mode). The best extension I found so far for this task, been using for years.

I have an online gambling problem and being able to block sites including the extension page then add a rnadom password and lock as well as hide in menu is great

It just needs a right click context menu entree to add the current site you're on to the blocked list and it would be a perfect extension.

full screen window pops up after I "x" off the ad...and says, "this ad was blocked"....no , it wasn't....I had 2 windows I have to x off to continue...I bet I x off 24 times per day , at least....I do not need to know what you did.....the ad should not come up on my screen at all

Easy to use, but waaay too easy to override.

Simple but effective. On it's simplicity it works where tools like stayfocusd fails, because it doesn't rely on time, but rather on blocking layers, like the "on/off" switch, blocking the extensions page itself and even passwords to make it really difficult to disable. Still can go even further on improvement* and maybe some design, but on general, it works really well! *(i.e., a 60 sec timer wait to make any change before taking something off from the blocklist would be pretty nice. The time itself would make you think if this is a good decision. I've found my self that the lazyness to wait itself can stop me from giving up the tool and going to procrastinate).

This app really helps increase my productivity on sites like Youtube. No more being distracted by other sites. Combine this with the Recommended Video Blocker For Youtube and I can REALLY get stuff done. 5/5 stars.

10/10, only suggestion I could make would be an option to have it only be on for certain days/hours but works great. keeps me on task.

This extension has helped me tremendously - I've been able to keep focused and stay productive during long work sessions when I might otherwise get distracted. I use it primarily for blocking Facebook. Please make a huge ruckus when this comes available for Chrome Android - I'll use it!

Excellent. This is a simple way to block distracting websites, and it works flawlessly. I find this more effective than the more complicated solutions available (StayFocusd and so on).

This is fantastic but the thing is I can simply remove the extension from chrome which defeats the purpose. Does anyone know how I can stop myself from removing the extension? Removing and disabling are two separate things

it's been great up until the last couple of days. free tv streaming sites have had some really nasty malware added recently. I've tried to block the sam e site 3 or more times to no avail.
