How do I turn on the app?
It works fine! And I'll get a notification when the time's up. Great! It does what I want; blocks sites and makes it annoying to get around shutting it off. Good, that'll make me go back to work as it's not worth the hassle trying to find a way to turn it off. The people complaining are looking for reasons to rag on this extension this makes me wonder why they're trying so hard to turn it off instead of actually working. That seems like another distraction to overcome. Developers probably have to abide by some rules were it has to be possible to uninstall an extension so, quit your complaining and get back to work slackers! I would like if it was on the right click mouse menu and the only options were: Add site to block list/remove site from block list And we can only remove one site per day though the right click menu so as to not abuse it. (Sometimes a person can miss click so it's important to have that the option to undo a mistake.)
There is no "turn off" option, I'll give it that. However, there are multiple ways to disable it quickly, the easiest of which is to simply open the console (Ctrl + Shift + i) and delete the blocking HTML. I can't say this will help me very much, seeing as I found a way around it in less than sixty seconds, but at least it works as advertised, albeit disappointing.
does a good job, but they blocked youtube which is something i play in the background to keep me focused. idk why but it doesnt let me edit my list of sites to block anymore and im not sure how to fix that
Super streamlined, no fuss, no bloat. Pomodoro extension with blocking! I do wish there was an option to automatically start the next 25min session after the break, but I understand why they would omit that.
Great job !
There is no way to add websites that you are currently visiting.. so you need to add them manually, and cant create a streak of pomos to keep on going
Love this extension but it is taking access to read all the website or certain websites and has no information on the privacy policies, if they are using this to get every website you are visiting?
I love it! It's so useful and I get my work done fast. It lets me play songs using youtube and is super easy to use. I'd like the option to add sites to blocklist even when the timer is still running.
It saved me hundreds of hours... it allows to block your acced to the sites you open atomaticly - news, social network...
If you block chrome web store and the chrome://extensions , then there is no way to stop the timer until it finishes. Also you can keep on blocking in incognito if you go to chrome://extensions then click on the extension and toggle allow in incognito mode on. Then you can literally not stop it.
Super simple and Super Strict
This helps me so much with work. I have terrible self control and ADHA, and I can never getting work done and end up just watching something on youtube or going into some other crazy internet rabbit hole. Ive tried other things like this but I can never commit myself so I love how it cant be turned off.
reduced my procrastination, thanks!
Badass
Simple and effective. I get blocked many times a day still and it feels good to actually get work done instead of falling into the facebook or reddit rabbit hole.
THANKS!!!!! right now I'm doing a full course load online with no library space to go to for focus when studying so this basically saved my life. I haven't been able to get a good study session down since my habits and willpower arent there yet to resist distractions myself so thanks a million
Nice extension, but, there are some serious flaws: 1. After 25 pomidor period, the sites are still blocked if I do not start a break. This forces me to disable it in chrome all the time. 2. There should be an option to pause the timer, not just to reset it on click. For example, I started a counter and I have an important call, that can't be ignored. I was to pause my timer.
It worked but so annoying when I accidentally click it when I'm doing something else. Also, nothing to stop me from going into guest mode.
an excellent extension
The blocking or unblocking doesn't work if we transition from work to break or vice versa, unless we click on the extension icon. Please fix this, the already open site should be blocked the moment work timer starts, or i should be able to open sites the moment break starts, without having to click on the icon for it to activate.
Its a great app, the problem is when my daughter is left alone she can just remove it. Please install a system where we can put a secret password, and then make it repeat until the day start so we can't turn it off, whenever we want thanks
Great extension but would love to be able to change block/break timer options.
I wish it would let me set up which websites when I add it. It wouldn't let me change any of them until 25 minutes had elapsed, but I listen to classical music on youtube while I work and, instead of being able to get right back to work, I had to find another productivity app that wouldn't make me work in silence.
Please add the ability to add sites to the block list when the timer is going. Also, a long break and maybe the ability to keep track of the number of pomodoros you done.
The best pomodoro extension I've tried so far. The only thing is missing is an option to make the work/pause phase change automatically and block the websites.
Completely useless. All you have to do is exit Chrome and then open Chrome again for blocking to be completely undone. Others like Self Control CANNOT be bypassed like this, but they don't have whitelisting which is what I need.
Honestly helps me get a lot done, but please add the option to lower the timer volume, or change the tone. You don't know how irritating it is for me (and my girlfriend) to hear the harsh ringing go off twice every 30 minutes. Otherwise it would be a 5/5.
It's really not great that you can't stop it. I understand the "strictness" philosophy, but it's taken me 5 times downloading and removing repeatedly to simply make sure all of the settings are what I want.
Best Pomodoro Timer 1) Timer is modifiable, not only 25min, but anything you want 2) Showing remaining minutes in red (during work) or green(during breaks) 3) Sounds, when timer ended 4) Not allowed list of sites, configurable
A great helping hand !
I really find this extension useful! I think it would be better if there were settings for cycles (like 4 cycles of work-then-break) so that there's no need to keep clicking?
ฮากับคอนเซปมาก มาจากการควบคุมตัวเองไม่ได้
i am not able to add sites which i want to block
I really like this concept, and I really like the strictness it can provide. That said, I frankly can't find a way to turn it off ever, short of disabling the extension. I frankly use it more for providing a reminder to take a break (I sometimes forget to eat / drink when I'm "in the zone"), but if I can't turn it off in the evening or on weekends, then I just end up leaving it disabled. Maybe I'm not the target user, but I think there's a need for something ever-so-slightly less strict :)
Great, but you should try to fix how we have to constantly disable/enable it to reset it when accidentally turn it on or something which just happened to me before I posted this.
This is the best tool so far for focusing. My suggestion: add a pomodoro record, like the Marinara extension, that allows us to keep track of pomodoros completed during the day/week/beginning of time. I would also add the "long break" option. Because I need a longer rest after 3/4 pomodoros
Loved It!
Good and nice! Can you append a counter and statistics of pomodoros per day/week/years? If you can- it will be very useful to manage time and work
Love it! Thank you for this simple but amazing extension. Just hope there is a simple pause button. I understand you don't put a pause button to avoid its misuse. Maybe you can enable it and set like still blocking websites during break-in-work time?
Unable to add sites to the block list. Started a work session, and now it's just permenantly stuck saying I can't make changes to it while in a work session, even though the work session has ended...
novel ideas more contributution required also minute observations of guild workers and handi craft touches to be observed
This was the only productivity blocker that I found which still plays Youtube Songs while blocking access to the page. Awesome. Wishlist: * some functionality of collecting "break time" and freely toggling between work and break mode as the fixed break intervals usually don't fit my current needs
Right now I'm on my last 4 minutes of Break and I need to make my point. I like it! Get's me to the point of doing stuff! However, sometimes I forget to put on a Break—by the time whatever Break I've set up and followed through (with my watch) has ended, I can't skip it here! And it'd be nice to skip Breaks. . . But this doesn't necessarily mean one can skip Focus periods!
This is a really great extension that works just like it says. It would be really nice if it would support longer breaks after 4 pomodoros like the general technique suggests. Thanks for a great extension!
glitchy and is not intuitive - even on "break" and when time is up it continues to block sites
the ONLY way to roll, great extension! one feature i'd like to suggest is to have an "exception list", not only black/white list for sites.
it's really useful.
Simple and useful
It blocks my white-listed websites although the black list is empty and allows some websites that are not included in the white list.
This extension is super helpful, and keeps me out of my own way!
Adequate. But really simple.
This extension does not block distracting sties during work periods!
So helpful but not quite perfect for me yet because I really wish it had an option where I could have a long break (15 min) after 3 short breaks. Thank you! :)
This extension has been a great help to me with distraction. The only thing that I can think of that would be helpful would be an option to skip a break rather than waiting it out. For situations when you are completely in flow and want to keep working, but still need the block to keep distractions out of your mind. I totally understand the strictness of the work timers, but I don't think that skipping breaks would hurt the strategy.
I love this. I'ld like to see a few features added such as when you start a pomodoro, you are asked the question "What are you going to commit to work on during this session?". I'd also like to be able to see a list of times I did pomodoros and the commitments.
Very useful, great work
It was pretty perfect and self explanatory except sometimes it wouldnt let me access certain websites even when the break timer was on or I was done with work (and the timer ran out.) It forces me to delete it before reinstalling or disable it temporarily. This doesnt happen very often.
Very useful!
helps to concentrate
Not being able to pause the timer makes this extension far too cumbersome to use. I get that the idea is that it should discourage you from pausing it so you can go to whatever websites you like, but if you can simply disable the extension with a couple of extra clicks, I find this "feature" to have little value.
Does as it says on the tin and has all the customisation you need. I have greatly improved my productivity since getting it and is nice to track how long I have spent on a given task. Would recommend.
I really love this concept. It's so helpful for productivity, and I imagine it'll help internalize good habits in the long run as well. I combine it with a timed white noise extension which I set to block out distracting sounds for the same duration as a work timer. Works brilliantly! I can see that a lot of people have made some of the suggestions I have as well. I would love to be able to set an amount of hours for a work session, in which the work and break timers run automatically. After the work session ends, the timers are deactivated automatically so you can have a lunch break with unlimited browsing, for example, and then you could start another session when you are done with lunch. It would also be cool to have a pop-down menu come down when clicking the icon in the extension bar. Here, I would put options for setting how long the work and break timers run for, perhaps with the option of setting the work sessions mentioned above as well. It's not a major issue, this one, but I take my ADD medication in the morning and might be able to work at full focus for much longer than 25 minutes, and in the evening, when the medication has worn off, I need much more frequent breaks, and often I can't even do 20 minutes at a time. Having a pop-down menu would make customization of the timers much more convenient and intuitive.
Great extension!
I get distracted often when doing homework, and this really helps me. However, when the break phase is finished, the timer doesn't automatically start again, so if you have poor self control (like me...) it makes it harder to get back to work. Other than that, this really helps me be productive and I love it!
DOESN'T RESTART TIMER. You have to click it! The whole point of me wanting this is to keep track of my time usage. If I forget to click the timer, which I usually do, it renders this useless. Other than that, I would love it.
One of the best apps I installed on my chrome :)
It is (intentionally) a pain to disable. What if the work day is over and I don't care about this thing running in the evening? Well, I have to view all my chrome extensions and disable it. Other than that, I think it works very well. It does exactly what it says. Thank you!
Doesn't work as expected. Requires a tedious manual clicking to start work/break cycles.
Some problem as with most of these sites: no way to override the blocking or to create a temporary exception.
hey, Sorry for not giving 5, but hear me out why. Before I start, add one more step to the flow of the function this extension. *Suggestion: You can add 2 stepped prompt before the timer starts.* Now the reason, see, I accidentally clicked on the button and it closed something which I wanted to share. Please note, I was not working at that time. So I had to get back to sharing the news. So I simply: 1. went on chrome://extensions/ 2. then just disabled the extension baam...back to normal... So you can understand, why its use became questionable for me. I hope you would do something as I suggested or you can hide simple loopholes, like the one i mentioned. Sorry again!
I would love it if the extension had a way to bypass work/relax timers. Sometimes I forget to set the timer and want to go into work mode.. Then I'm forced to sit and wait for relax mode timer to go off before I can put it into work mode again
Really helped my working
Great app, but it should also count Pomodoro's data in calendar or have ability to create a task/tag to select on which project you are working. You really want to know total Pomodoro's or time spent on specific project.
sucks
its very stupid and annoying
Nice one
Really what i needed. Pomodoro & social sites blocked.
Nice, but I often forget to start it and distract. Needs something like timer autostart option.
Great extension. Love how it only blocks websites you ask (another extension blocked everything but google or whatever you added, so this is better). Only thing I would like to see is a way to schedule when the blocking occurs. For example, once I leave work, I would like unrestricted viewing of blocked websites.
great aide for easily distracted people!
It definitely helps keep me from getting distracted when I am doing homework or have other things to do. A few suggestions though: I wish there was an option to skip a break, and that once the break was over, if we had a setting to automatically start the work phase. It is too tempting to keep browsing facebook and realize a half hour has disappeared! Please make an iOS version too!! Freedom works, but it costs $$.
I love this app! Two helpful improvements: 1. Keep a running count of pomodoros. This would be helpful for the competitor in many of us. 2. Place an option to allow a short session open internet session (up to 5 minutes) in advance of the first pomodoro, which will make it significantly easier to press the button to get the sessions started. 3. Create an automated multi-pomodoro session option. The loop will keep running for however many pomo's you select.
Can the application be modified so that a multi pomodoro loop can be initiated. like start the restrict period again after 5 mins break. the loop rotating for a certian no of times based on user choice. or an option for bigger break after certain no of pomodoros.
Useful, but a bit too strict. It would be useful if it had an option to pause or reset a session. I know this breaks the rules but it should be enough that we know that.
Simple and elegant. Just what I was looking for!
The site blocking feature doesn't always work for me. About 50% of the time for some sites (xkcd.com, news.ycombinator.com, some others) I will go there and the page will load and display. If I click on a link withing the site or reload it *then* it blocks it. Also on some websites (cnn.com a big offender) the little pomodoro logo is horribly scaled to about 3x the size of my monitor).
Great extension definitely recommend it.
I would give 5 star if it has an automatic timer.
Use this all the time. i think its great. some cool additions would be an option to click on the button during the timer and it will allow you to add a list of things you will do during the break. another thing is when i'm not using the extension, id like to know how long its been since i last used it. I would also like a setting that after a couple cycles we can set an even longer break. my ideal would be to do 5 cycles and then have a 30 min break. this other app called pomodoro timer has statistics and you can set intervals with a longer break. would love it if y ou guys can implement that too
I like it. But the fact that you can close/open the browser to get around the site-blocking, kinda renders the plugin a bit useless :(
Working great!
Exactly what I wanted in a work app.
Please implement an auto-start feature. Allow me to start multiple workflows in a single session. Restarting a workflow after a break ends is difficult to remember to do when I get in the zone on whatever crap I'm breaking on.
I have a bad habit of extending the breaks. Maybe add a tone that doesn't stop until you restart work mode?
It works!
Hey This app would be a lot more helpful if you could go in and turn it off? I've hit it by accident and it's incredibly frustrating
Great, although it would be nice to have a lunch break option.
Does the things strict way as the name of the App proclaim )) so - it is just fine with me... and if anything goes wrong - I can close the browser then... and open it up again.
I love this extension. I have ADHD, so i get distracted very easily. It's not perfect, though. 1. You should be able to add blocked sites during the work session 2. The work timer doesn't start automatically after the break timer, so I can put off working as long as I want
Love this, but I wish I could pre-select the number of sessions I want to do, and that it would automatically restart during that time frame. As it is now, I frequently forget to restart it.
Please make an option to change the volume. I would surely change it to 5 stars since it is quite helpful. Also please give a choice to give exceptions on blocking. For example I want to block facebook for the mean time but not my facebook page. So please do not make blocking and allowing be vague. If you get my point.
