Junk.
It's okay. How do you remove rules?
Complete manual control and completely customizable. The presets are also fantastic and make it ready-to-customize right out of the box. I use it to confidently filter out offensive language such as "NFTs," "Crypto," "TikTok," and "radio-carbon dating" to guarantee that my children can browse the internet safely without being exposed to the corruption of our modern world.
Downloaded this to remove quote retweets of accounts I have blocked because Twitter's own mute/block system can't do that. Works perfectly.
CustomBlocker is very powerful, but not very simple. I REALLY wish I could export my settings to use on another computer (or sync my settings through google drive/dropbox/etc). The developers could probably make it easier to use, but it's always going to be complicated. If you are comfortable with RegEx, then you can figure it out through trial and error. I use it to block Facebook stories, hide ad/sponsored listings on amazon and fb marketplace, block whole categories on ebook3000, and a few other things. It works perfectly for me.
Doesn't work at all can't save any rules
complicated and doesnt work to block videos
After an hour of trying to get this to work I have had absolutely no luck.
Please perform some logging cleanup. There are many SourceMap warnings that get generated from this extension. https://i.postimg.cc/251GbD74/Screenshot.png
Seemed really promising, but it doesn't work.
Not working as of writing of this review. Needs further input from developer.
Exactly what I was looking for. Absolutely Perfect!
Trash. UI is totally broken, refuses to let user save anything. 0/10 nonfunctional
Love this plugin! It lets me use the helpful features of other extensions and sites without having to deal with features that get in the way. Definitely a more technical extension than most. I found the xpath and block anyway settings to be the easiest. (Note: it appears that the name field doesn't like numbers or special characters.) For those who aren't used to the developer tools in chrome: open developer tools (ctrl+shift+j), click on the mouse pointer in a box icon on the top left, click on the element on the page you want to hide (make sure the whole piece is highlighted, no more, no less), on the code side, right click on the highlighted text, go to copy, then copy xpath. Use this when making the rule. This requires the least technical knowledge for using this plugin. If that's too much, this plugin isn't for you. (More documentation would be nice.)
Perfect app if you know what you are doing! Now you can say goodbye to certain rogue user/content on the specified website. Just find out the xpath or the css of the element you potentially want deleted and then you add the words/username you don't want to see. Then boom! Your world is clean and tranquil again.
It's hard to use because the live adding seems to be borked. But once I got to the program's preferences page, and further managed the details for a site from there, it finally saved the information I wanted. Once I went past that hurdle, the program works great! No more big spammy announcements from a certain site on my page! Hard to use at first, but once you grasp the logic it's actually making sense. It's just a little bit finicky when trying to add rules.
Doesn't work or too tricky I've created new rule, piked elements, have tried both CSS and XPath, pressed the "Save" button, advertisements have disappeared. Reloaded site and all advertisements on their places.
Doesn't work, doesn't do anything. I made an easy request, block all elements that match LI.ignoredMessage on a forum. In developing the rule it highlights the proper elements, indicating it's smart enough to understand what I want blocked on the site, but when you actually try and run it the elements are still visible. It even claims to have hidden the elements when you look at the icon, but they are still visible. If I go and press on and off they disappear. But that's basically worthless to me.
Doesn't ad dnew rule for 1st site I tried. pfff
Just doesn't work, please fix it?
Perfect! exactly what I was looking for. But, the Xpath is not working. However, css is working and I could block the content on geeksforgeeks website
Doesn't work on a chromebook. New rule button does nothing. Install preset rules does nothing.
Doesn't work at all when I click "new rule for this site" or try to manually add a rule and click "Save". Throws this error when I click save: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property 'title' of null at RuleEditor.saveRule (list_rules.js:478) at HTMLInputElement.<anonymous> (list_rules.js:412) RuleEditor.saveRule @ list_rules.js:478 (anonymous) @ list_rules.js:412
A bit hard to use, but works great!
I kept pressing "new rule for this site" but nothing happened
This is fantastic. I was looking for an extension that could replace Element Hiding Helper (only in Firefox AdBlock Plus), and this is it! Gets rid of all the junk on a page, cleans it up very nicely. Thank you so much.
Exactly what i needed
Works perfectly if you know what you are doing, e.g. have some regex experience. Deducted 1 star for lack of documentation - the '?' buttons does not say much. Tip: To have the filter only trigger on top page and not subpages, use ^http://www\.example\.com/$
#Blockardashian using CustomBlocker @ : https://sites.google.com/site/blockardashian/ Will block Kardashians, Jenners and all IDIOTS on the Internet that deserve IGNORING. Simply doesn't work
Best element blocker in the Chrome web store. It actually works, and remembers to block on sites globally ( like YouTube and the comment block ). Well done Author!
It does not actually "block" the element. It hides the element by putting a display:none style on it. This doesn't actually do anything useful when the content is still there. But it does "hide" the elements, so no one star.
Works excellent. Managed to use it to make both a YouTube and a Steam blocklist to filter out nasty comments, troublesome trolls, etc... EXCELLENT! I will say though, might not hurt to put a vertical scrollbar on the edge, since as the list of keywords gets bigger, the entry box and the SAVE button get farther and farther from each other... and the Steam blocklist will eventually not be able to have names added to it (though I could make a second rule I guess with new keywords) when the entry box even at the top edge of the screen has the save button off the screen. Perhaps moving the keyword entry box to the bottom of the keywords, and the other entry boxes below those, so they're always bunched near the save button? :)
Go to desired site ------ Click upper right ICON--------- select NEW RULE FOR THIS SITE –-- ELEMENTS TO HIDE hit SUGGEST----------select ONE BOX highlighted area desired (click) Menu of ranges will show up-----scroll down Menu of DESIRED range of the page (click) For KEYWORDS : Check REGEX, the box turns pink, Enter keyword or words one at a time. Kardashian--ADD, Jenner --ADD, Kanye West--ADD ; just for Examples------SAVE-----CLOSE.
works fantastic to block annoying (non-advertisement) elements from websites i regularly visit. simply click to add a rule, name your rule, append a * at the end of the main url, hit suggest button, select that element, select the top-most option if more than 1 pop up, select 'block anyway', and hit save. reload, and that beech is not seeing the light of day anymore!
It can block any element with any keyword, I love it.
This is the one that worked best for me. Helps get rid of things that waste my time, aka removes useless and incorrect information, and improves my productivity.
minus one star because of delay of blocking elements. otherwise everything is good :)
SHOULD BE BUILT INTO CHROME. This extension is the equivalent to removing all annoying commercials while you are trying to watch your favorite show on TV. While I had to stop watching TV to achieve this...all I need is this extension to remove all annoying things while I am using the innernetz. THANKS!
There is a delay when it applies. My only purpose is to block Google search dropdown keyword list, and it could take 10 seconds for it to apply. Perhaps it is waiting for the DOM to finish loading, but that might take forever.
I couldn't get it to work. Either not Chromebook compatible or not trackpad compatible. No way to know which.
I like this a lot but it can be cumbersome to add keywords. Also an automatic way to sync rules between multiple browsers would be nice.
need more work . and it not easy to use
Not so bad. But,SSetting is very Difficulty. Please Add User-friendly UI or Wizard.
My Facebook wall becomes clean! 1. Pick NG keyword 2. Set area to search by mouse click 3. Set area to block by mouse click This is very intuitive.
