2021-04-02-Just blew up - brke a lot of my typical apps. Removing.
Very good extension. I like it.
Blocks Ameritrade scripts without giving the option to allow.
Awesome! Currently using this in Microsoft Edge (Chromium). At first you'll find yourself annoyed with all the sites with broken features since the extension is blocking scripts by default but once you start whitelisting your usual sites, you'll start to notice the internet is a better place. Less popups, less auto-starting video adverts, and certainly a safer browsing experience.
Works Great!
Was useful but now seems to block my ability to control my local routers such as negear, and stops sites that use CloudFlare. Need to unistall.
excellent...
really really really good.
EXCELLENT!
i actually LOVE this extension and consider it VITAL but basically, I can't use it anymore because some dumbas* reason this extension overwrites the standard javascript Math function... even when you disable on whatever page you want to visit, it still breaks it... it even breaks incognito mode even when the extension is not enabled for incognito mode... WHY ARE YOU OVERWRITING STANDARD JS FUNCTIONS?
It works great, on most cases, only disappointment would be the lack of blacklist mode, it can be much handier if it let user to choose between blacklist mode (only block certain sites) and whitelist mode (block everthing not on the white list).
I was looking for a scrip that would block all iframes from loading. The plugin claims to be able to block/control iframes. To put it simply, it doesn't work. I tested on my server in 2 minutes. Created a page which loaded another page in an iframe. I insalled this plugin and revisited the page.... the page loaded fine, so did the iframe and its contents. Nothing blocked. Uninstalling plugin now.
A useful extension for wide web-browsing. Once you use it for a while you'll have all your regular sites whitelisted and prevents random popups and other garbage from executing anything. Yea it's very simple (basically just a switch) and has little to no filtering but it does the job. Also a great workaround for those ***hat sites that force you to turn ublock/adblock off or deny access.
love it
Very good and simple scriptblocker that makes casual browsing safer for most people. It's not as fine-grained as say Scriptsafe, but that doesn't change that it does a good job. Kudos. Good to have it back on the store.
Very glad it's back in the store! It's the best app on Chrome for blocking unwanted scripts.
Favourite script blocker!
When an element on a page tried -- and subsequently failed -- to run Flash, I noticed that something had return to my menu -- scriptblock! Yes, it can be... cumbersome at times having to toggle scripts on and off when you're in a hurry, but it's better that than getting infected. Love this thing!
always was the best and now its back
I'm glad to see ScriptBLock back in action!
Fix the popup window, for ages whenever you click on it, you have an excellent chance of it showing above the web display area, so it's totally inaccessible.
How the hell this has over 2 stars is beyond me. No cascade option and it just is tedious to whitelist everything. Don't bother.
perfect!
It works fine, but I can only agree with others, that it needs a blacklist function. A whitelist approach is simply too aggressive for me.
Works, easy to use GUI to quickly whitelist/blacklist sites, protects against XSS attacks. WELL DONE.
Very pleased with this extension.Several of my bookmarked sites now load 1-2 seconds faster than before.A definite keeper.
Been using this for a few years as a replacement for NotScripts, and it's worked fine.
Tough decision whether to give 2 or 3 stars. There's no doubt the extension works, and it works find. But the one major drawback is that is can only run in "whitelist-mode", meaning it blocks everything, and then you have to manage all the sites you want to allow. Had it been the other way around - (or at least the option to toggle between whitelist mode or blacklist mode), I would have to decide between 4 or 5 stars.
The First to use and bravo for ScriptBlock. Keep Move On.
Works great for me, haven't encountered any issues so far.
THIS IS terrible didn't work
Efficient and Simple!
This blocks a lot of interactive content and allows you to browse sites smoothly, but sometimes web pages use scripts to create their sidebars, menus and even to populate their content. For the most part, I think users want to block runaway scripts and auto-play videos. It may not be feasible to create an extension that does this without interfering with content and menus. You will have to turn it off sometimes or whitelist sites The main problem with this add-on is the lack of a simple "on/off" switch. You have to go to the Chrome Menu>"More Tools">"Extensions" to disable/enable this; otherwise you can only whitelist sites or temporarily allow scripts on one site at a time
Please. I want it off my desktop as it interferes with every site I go to. I can't find out how to delete it. Useless app.
You stuck in the "donate" part for a while, before unlocking the sites. If it's free, you shouldn't do this type of mktg. People hate this and so do I!!!
Not what I was looking for: specific, not domain wide blocks, aka block a specific script from a domain not every script on said domain
it does what it is supposed to.loved it.it is very good.i reccomend it
Love it!
Works fine, however the menu to block or allow freaks out when there's too many sources and only gives you the option to "Temporarily allow all on page" (or something to that effect).
Developer hasn't been active in over a year. This was a great product, but lots of bugs now that will continue to grow.
Excellent well done, simple and it works!
At this moment, ScriptBlock it's a very usefull antiscript app. Nothing to reproach.
Simple, intuitive, and does exactly what I need it to. Combined with Adblock, garbage websites suck a little less. Thank you.
Very helpful
ALL sites are blocked by default. There is no way to set it to allow all until you decide to block certain ones. This design is backwards.
amazing
Great extension. Does what it is supposed to do. Keeps my fan from turning on when visiting websites.
after trying many other similar apps that failed, this worked!
Most annoying extension ever. I miss the old one that used to be in FireFox. This one not only screws up every single website there is, but evewn when you white-list them, they are broken again the next time you return to the same site, even though it's still listed in the white-list, you have to click allow again.
yo2
Seems to work OK for me in MOST instances. Some web pages simply do not load or function as they should ,probably due to the heavy reliance on JavaScript as the basis for delivering content. I worked around that limitation by disabling it on the "manage extensions" page in chrome. It would be nice if you had a button on the toolbar icon to TEMPORARILY disable the functionality as needed. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, well done!
Not even close to the versatility of Firefox NoScript. Gives like one option per page to block or unblock. i want deep control of everything website is doing. Didn't find this useful. Not a bad start for an extension but not even close a final product.
Forces reload of page when changing status, so can't be used to temporary disable java script... No good for me but seems OK besides this...
wont remember when i click allow. after i click allow for 5+ times it turns off. its frustrating
Edit: Has stopped working, but co-occurred with a chrome update, so that may be the issue. Appears to provide comprehensive blocking, like NoScript/NotScripts. The only problem I have is that it doesn't reload the page after you apply your settings. The other is that it is page specific, it won't apply across a domain once you approve it.
huge steaming pile of crap.
Blocking is global only, and it seems to have some built in bias to allow certain ads no matter if they are blocked. The Allow, Block and Temp buttons dont work most of the time. This was a reported issue from 2013 and has not been fixed as best I can tell. Wish NoScript had a chrome version....
Does exactly what it advertises, very well. One feature request I have is to add a fourth option besides allow, block and temporarily allow: allow on source domain. Basically, block only third-party scripts on most sites. But, again: works great.
Not so good, only unblocks a domain globally where often I only want to unblock the www.abc.com not all its subdomains.
I have been using this extension in both Google Chrome and Chromium, in Windows and Linux, for well over a year now. I have never had a problem with it. I like that is blocks everything by default and lets me allow scripting or not. I use it in conjunction with AdBlock Plus and I have not seen an ad or pop-up in over a year. For me this has been a very solid and must-have extension.
Used to work but now is almost unusable. Will change my rating once it's fixed. I have two problems. Sometimes the popup screen is almost completely hidden, only a small corner is exposed. I need to click off and go back to the screen to see it. Second, and most annoying, I will grant a permission to a cookie, it won't auto refresh like it should, so when I refresh it manually, it doesn't recognize the last action I took (granting access). So I have to do it again, sometimes a third time just for it to take effect. This is insanely annoying and I'm about to the point of no longer using this extension because this bug causes so much headache.
Blocks things you don't want to be blocked
Have been using ScriptSafe for years, but it hasn't been updated in over a year. I decided to give ScriptBlock a try, and while I love its simplicity, way less control is given over domains. You can only 'Allow' or 'Block' a domain globally, that's it. This might not be so bad, assuming you've got Adblock and Ghostery installed. The whitelist doesn't work as it should. Every time I open the browser anew, it completely ignores the whitelist and continues to block every domain I had allowed previously. It's very featureless. The icon for allowed script doesn't like to stay 'green', and the included password feature is not useful or user friendly. I also discovered some typos in the menus such as "witch" and "realy"... but I'm guessing this should be expected from a developer named compvid30, sorry man. Definitely not ready for primetime, but perhaps someday it can make a good alternative.
Worked excellently but as of today the window it pops up for blocking/unblocking websites has turned invisible, or it only pops up a tiny corner of the window making that functionality inaccessible. Super annoying.
Easy to use. Blocks most/all of the bad stuff by default. Easy to whitelist the site that you are on, with just a few clicks.
Just stops working. Don't download.. it's a crap extension.
very good!
Has worked well for me so far
Broken. Hasnt been updated in almost 2 years. It does not block all scripts on a page now, and it breaks many scripts/websites even when everything is allowed.
It blocks the javascript ads and scripts that adblocker or others cant do
must have
Excellent. The best script app I have tried on Chrome. Very similar to NoScript on Firefox.
I liked the extension but it frequently stops working to prompt to make a donation. I made a donation a long time ago but it doesn't stop the extension from continuing to stop working much too frequently to get you to make another donation. I wrote to the developer about it but got no response and I am now trying out other script blockers. Ongoing payments is like blackmail and I have had enough.
best aap to block unwanted ads
It works. It is best thing you can get if you want to block javascript on chrome outside of a whitelist. The password feature is useless though. The options page says the whitelist is encrypted in some unspecified way, but the encryption is pointless because every install of scriptblock uses the password 1gnepnvj387fb3f3f8bhB6fvgzvgVTCFCFCGC4sfd. The developer offers a way to find where in javascript source code the constant that is the password is stored, but modifying and saving this file prompts Chrome to mark the extension as corrupted and forces it to be repaired (reinstalled) before use. Which sets the password to the default. If a website wants to read your whitelist, all this forces them to do is make sure to specifically target ScriptBlock, which is better than nothing I suppose.
It will show a 1 on a new page, then only have options to donate and not to allow script on a page, it does this about 1 week after an install, certain pages will not allow you to drop down and see any option to allow content, have to keep uninstalling and since limited in what we can use, try again hoping for best, on 3rd try now.
Started off working quite well, but after a few days, it does not change the permissions any more. It keeps asking for donation. Not that I do not want to donate, but I do not want to be forced to do so.
So far it is great! Will be able to tell more, later.
Can't live without it. Let's me decide who runs javascript in my browser.
Like the simplicity similar to NoScript, wish it supported sync of whitelist/domain approvals across brower instances/devices.
I was being absolutely bedeviled by the Zoomify app until I installed, almost at random, ScriptBlock. Of the many similar apps, the only one I found to knock Zoomify out was ScriptBlock. Many, many thanks to its developers!
Today noScript just up and vanished. Saw this one and it seems stable and clean. Pretty nice default whitelist too.
brilliant!
Using this now that NotScripts has disappeared. Sucks having to redo all of my permissions. There seems to be a bug with the page not reloading once permissions are changed. You have to manually reload the page. I even have the option enabled for the page to reload but its not working. Update: This appears to be an issue only if you have the multi-select check box selected. NotScripts did not have this same problem.
Simply awesome :)
I used NotScripts for years until Google killed off the extensions api that it worked through. I was very relieved to find that NotScripts lives on as ScriptBlock. Thanks!
Now Getting "This extension may have been corrupted." 11-27-2014. It did this on the parent NOTSCRIPT app and is the reason I switched to this one. Now this one only worked upon first install. Oh well guess back to PAID software AGAIN.
Awesome extension! Great for those sites that force windows to open even if you don't click the ads.
Excellent
Good at blocking scripts but it's really only an effective tool if you want to block scripts on most sites most of the time. If you're only looking to block certain sites, it's annoying to have to authorise every time you navigate to a new URL. Needs the option to run as default OFF and block on a site-by-site basis, the opposite logic.
It doesn't block most scripts from most servers on most websites. Go to CNN's website for instance. On CNN's website, there are 9 servers to unblock, as seen on NoScript for Firefox: cnn postrelease visualrevenue optimizely truste dl-rms turner insightexpressai outbrain Your extension only shows ONE server: cnn If most servers don't get blocked with this extension, what's the point of it?
Poor interface and bugs
Good: Far simpler interface than ScriptSafe. Bad: All or nothing. Thoughts: I wish I could block specific elements by right clicking and without reloading the page.
i know my cromebook is taken care of with scriptblock
Update: extension is well-done, but I do not want to kill all JS, only auto-refresh. I constantly have to Allow sites if I want basic things like Disqus comments. Will uninstall. _______________________ Very nice conception and interface. Easy to use and effective. Two suggestions: I would like to see the ability to single out javascript auto-page-refresh globally. Also, another global option that would make this much more useful to me would be to allow Disqus comments. Thanks.
Brilliant! Fuss-free & easy to configure. Thanks!
Saved several GB of RAM.
So far, so good! This extension really does work quite well with Adblock, Ghostery, & Disconnect Search. Thank you for this!
what i was looking for m automaticly blocks everything , one click to allow or not or tempory allow
Does what it says on the box, but several bugs make this extension hard to use. The author hasn't acknowledged any of the bugs for almost a year now... I am doubtful that this extension will see any support.
